Color: White with lemon or orange colored markings
Temperment: Clumber Spaniels are gentle, loyal, affectionate, playful and independent thinking dogs.
Origins: Developed in France, it was used to hunt pheasant and partridge.


About the Clumber Spaniel

The Clumber Spaniel was originally created in Great Britain to be used as a hunting dog.

Today, this dog is used mainly as a companion dog.

The Clumber Spaniel and Intelligence

Clumber Spaniels are very friendly and affectionate dogs who love to play with their family members. They are somewhat reserved with strangers though until they know that they are accepted by the family. These dogs are very mellow and love to please. Though they are hunting dogs by trade, they do really well with training and oral commands. They are very good with children and other animals.

Clumber Spaniel Characteristics

The characteristic look of the Clumber Spaniel is mostly white dog with lemon or orange colored markings on the ear, face and legs. Their coat is thick, straight and flat. They have feathered ears, legs and belly. They have a large head with flat skull. Their muzzle is broad with a large nose at the end. Their dark eyes are large and are far set apart while their triangular ears hang low. Their large feet turn outwards as they walk on their thick toe pads.

Clumber Spaniel Health Concerns

This breed is prone to allergies, dysplasia and entropion.

Choosing a Clumber Spaniel

Clumber Spaniels are made for any environment with sufficient exercise. They prefer the cooler temperatures but will do fine in heat.
