About the Weimaraner
The Weimaraner, was created in Germany to hunt big game.
Today, the Weimaraner is used as both a companion dog and general hunting dog.
Weimaraner’s are very energetic and fun loving dogs who love to please their owners. They are intelligent but can be difficult to train in the beginning because of their willfulness. It is very important that the training begin early with these dogs because they are reserved with strangers and protective of their territory. These dogs are recommended for small children and should not be around small animals because of their high prey drive. These dogs are very sensitive and will remember a bad experience for the rest of their lives.
The Weimaraner is a thin looking dog with long ears, which are set high on the skull, light amber-gray, or blue-gray eyes, a gray nose and strong defined jaw. Their back is straight and muscular as is their chest, which is somewhat broad. Their legs are slim and strong as they sit atop tiny compact feet. Their tail should be docked at a young age. Normally, this dog is a beautiful color of shades varying from mouse gray to silver gray.
This breed is prone to bloat, cancer, dysplasia, and eye problems.
The Weimaraner has an endless amount of energy and needs every opportunity to get that energy out. They do best in a large yard with plenty of room to run around. They also make great running partners.
