How to Keep Your Dog Cool
How Can I Keep My Dog Cool?
Question Comment 1: Macy and I travel around a bit to competitions, classes and seminars. I'd like to put a canine cooler or something in her crate to keep her more comfortable in case it gets warm. I was considering a 24x36 canine cooler (weighs less so I can still move it!) but the folks at Soothe Soft say the medium is only meant to hold up to 70 pounds and that the seams might split. Macy weighs 95. There's something else out there called a Cool Bed II that's less expensive but when filled with the recommended amount of water it weighs twice what the canine cooler weighs. Does anyone have any experience with these things? She had a canine cooler and loved it but when the cats were kittens they danced on it and made many tiny little holes so it became trash. I plan to replace that large one with another but the travel size is what I need right now. It's hard to get anything out of a hot dog and I don't like to drag her around, making her uncomfortable!

Comment 2: Our dogs LOVE the canine cooler. I had a couple split on the seam but the company replaced them. The instructions say to fill with less water for travel. We have each bed on a piece of fleece so they slide easily on the wood floor. If you have carpet I suppose you could put something like table cloth vinyl underneath. We've only traveled with ours a couple of times. We used the stretcher that some newf rescue group sells. It's the perfect size for the large canine cooler and has lots of handles.
