Does your dog love to travel in the back of your truck? Do you worry when the sun is beating down that your dog might be getting a little to hot? If you answered yes to these questions then PupHut has the solution for you. A new invention called the Puphut is built in shelter for your four-legged friend. This canopy will give your dog “shade in triple digit temperatures, or even the elements like rain and hail.” Other benefits to this device are that it will “act like a barrier to prevent dogs from getting bounced out of the pickup truck when going off-roading or crashing into obstacles.”

From Puphut.com:
“Puphut® is made with a heavy coated vinyl (the same material used on big rig truck tarps and commercial building awnings). It will withstand wind, rain, heat and exposure to the elements. The frame is constructed of heavy tubing with a black powder coated finish for long-lasting weather resistance.”
At $259.95, the Puphut is somewhat pricey, but I’m sure you would agree there is no price tag that you can put on your best friend’s life.

Here’s another fun find - dog tattoos! A safe, fun and non-toxic temporary tattoo for your pet. Petattoos have several to choose from that add sass and attitude to your dog’s fur.

A few of the listed tattoos:
Dogs Rule
Cats Suck
Heartbreaker
Drama Queen
Say It To The Paw
Without having tried the tattoo myself, it appears as though it would work best on a short-haired dog. A wavy coat may separate the tattoo artwork beyond recognition. Visit Pet Science Labs here!

Specially made for dog paws, this “lickable” all natural salve is based on on olive oil and beeswax and used to soften rough paws and heal sore, dry, and cracked pads. Designed to be put on before and after your dog trudges through road salt in the snow, and or exposure to hot roads and sidewalks.

Excerpt from Grubby Paws:
“Paw Balm can also be used on dry cracked itchy skin, “hot spots”, and in other locations as well.”
Paw Balm shown here is US $13.00 for a 75ml tin
I’m pretty sure our Bear’s paws are beyond repair but who knows!? We’re going to give this a try!

Wagwear offers dog clothing that actually fits our larger breed dogs. Although most of these items won’t wrap around our Newfoundland, some of their products such as their raincoat will fit up to a 28 inch neck. Wagwear’s founder Amy clarifies “We can fit up to a Great Dane in the all-weather raincoat. The sweaters and quilted jackets fit up to a 125lb. dog. Additionally the sweaters have alot of give and the panel on the front allows for a very broad chest.” As most of us know, all of the cute stuff is for the little breeds. When asked her thoughts on designing for different breed sizes she said “My motivation was to make stylish functional products for dogs. That meant all dogs.” See their catalog at www.wagwear.com
From their website:
This hand knit sweater is made of the finest merino wool. Colors: mandarin orange and pale grey, citrus green and pale grey (shown) or navy blue and pale grey. She applies the latest trends in style, fabric and material, into the clothing resulting in outfits that are freshly casual contemporary, and at $90 a sweater, probably shouldn’t be drooled on. From t-shirts and sheepskin collars to scuba suits and hooded leather jackets, her designs are fitting of the poshly dog living in the current millennium. Thank you Amy for designing for our Big Dogs.
*Note: Although they do not stock giant breed sizes, some are available to custom order - just email her and ask!

If Big Paws ever opens a retail store, the first thing we’ll get I’m sure of is some of these dog mannequins, not to dress them up but rather to use the life size models to torment our Bear cub. I’d order like 8 of them and somehow I would wire them to bark up a storm and stamped in the direction of Bear. I’m pretty sure Bear would run the first time (although I’m not certain - he might be the first to pounce) but I’m positive he would have weeks of fun with this sort of entertainment.

Or would that be weeks of fun for Me?
Anyway, you take a look at these mannequins here at Oscar Newman. If you have a small dog, there are tons of fitting sweaters, coats, t-shirts and other small dog clothes.
