Our Newfy is always getting dirty, particularly when it rains. So we were doing some research and found they actually have umbrellas specifically made for dogs. It’s actually pretty clever as it is attached to the leash. I’m not certain how practical it is however as it appears as though one would have to litterally hold the leash over the dogs head for maximum effect. This is essentially no different then holding a real umbrella, but I guess this frees up one hand. So on the topic, we’ve ran into some other silly inventions as you’ll see below:

From the HandsnPaws Website
” The fabric of the dog umbrella is waterproof. An ergonomic angled handle with padded comfort grip allows you to walk with the umbrella attached to your dog’s leash in comfort. In fact, the handle is specifically designed for your comfort as well as your pets. The umbrella leash has a hook that attaches easily and quickly to your pet’s collar. A clear umbrella body allows full view of your pet.”

Here is a schematic for a different pet umbrella

Here is a dog watch complete with doggy time.

And finally a doggy bumper; you don’t want any fender benders!

There are certainly a lot of different pet ID tags for your pups, but how many dog tags let Rex carry around his MP3s? The Top Tagâ„¢ pet ID tag is a tiny USB stick that when plugged into a computer instantly launches Rex’s complete profile including his name and home address, diet and medical needs, and it doesn’t stop there! This dog tag even stores what words and commands Rex understands, a photo album, and a function to print the data for records. And because the Pet ID tag has 64 MB, Rex can carry with his favorite tunes, word docs, any anything else he finds essential.

Top Tagâ„¢, $39.99.
This little gadget may be digital, but it’s as rugged as your dog is. It comes enclosed in a clear rubbery plastic mold that snaps together to keep out dust, water, drool and hair. Bear our Newfoundland can be one dirty dog, and is always in the mud or water when outdoors and this little thing comes back clean and dry every time.
We happened to wrangle a couple out of the company to give away, so if you’re interested, let us know in the comments and we’ll pull from the hat. As usual, we want to hear what you think so keep us posted!
* Don’t post your addresses online. We’ll contact two random dogs (people) in two weeks for their home address.

As dogs become more of a family member than a pet, it seems as though the luxuries of human life have found their way into that of your four legged friends. Sure dogs get comfortable beds, better food, spend time in a doggy day care when their parents are away but included on a regular basis for pets today is a real birthday party. This is not a little cake either. Now companies like www.gooddogexpress.com, are helping pet parents to come up with full-blown themed parties for both your friends and your pooch’s pals.

Doggy Stats:
In the U.S. alone last year, almost 1 million animals had a huge birthday celebration.
Wonder why people would go to such great lengths for their pooch? Well, when asked that very question, Tyler Hurst had this to say, “I don’t have a child yet. My family pretty much consists of Tiny Toons (the dog) and me…I didn’t want to miss out on all the fun stuff so I decided to have a birthday party for him.”
Whether you are new to this trend or an old regular, here are some party throwing tips:
- Pick the right spot to host the event.
- Invite the right people and pets.
- Decide on a set start and end time.
- Send your guests home with yummy treats and gifts.
It’s time to throw a Party!

I’ve got an exciting poll for everyone. The company I work for, Jakks Pacific, Inc., has just wrapped up a deal with Snoop Doggy Dog, the very stylish, very eccentric, (very a lot of things,) singer/rapper and even actor as Huggy Bear in Starsky and Hutch. We are developing an entire line of dog products geared for large breed dogs – leashes, collars, stuffies and clothing; all of which will have Snoop’s unique flare.

Jakks Pacific
Jakks Pacific has licensed the Snoop brand for it’s JPI Pets division.
Now for the poll: we are going to have Snoop record little sayings – clever, cute, and funny little tidbits that will play back from internal chips inside some of our toys. Much like a squeaker toy, the sound byte will play upon similar pressing/shaking.
So, what would you like Snoop Dogg to say? This is a chance to shape how these toys will progress and Snoop’s voiceovers! (And of course what your pal has to listen to
You won’t have long to wait either, the line will start rolling out on shelves everywhere later this year!
More details: The clips need to be short and sweet, appropriate for dog toys, and many.
