One way to increase hydration organically is to feed a raw diet. There are several complete and balanced raw diets on the market, but only one line of USDA certified organic, raw, frozen diets for dogs: Paw Naturaw. Product is available nationwide with free shipping from Amazon.com.

My dog will not drink water at a trial. I gave her small chips of ice on and off all day but now there is the concern about the dogs getting blotted from ice. Will the recipe be a safe way to get her to drink water or is the sugar a no no. Do you have other suggestions?

This recipe came in handy at a recent agility dog show. A dog owner had placed his dog back into the car while he went for something to eat. Even though he had left the front windows slightly open it was not enough to stop the heat inside the car to rise to life threatening levels. Having your mixture to hand we believe may have well saved the dog's life as it was severely dehydrated and in a state of collapse. We also covered the dog with damp towels before rushing it to the vets. Thanks for sharing your site with us.

Great recipe! Another way to tell if your dog is dehydrated is the skin test. If you pinch up his skin and it doesn't immediately return to it's regular positiion, your dog may be dehydrated.
