Bleu, a Pit Bull mix became markedly concerned for a 7 year old neighbor as she was about to be attacked. Bleu, recognized the distress in the girls screams in an adjacent backyard as she tried to fight off the pervert and began barking incessently trying to draw attention to the attack.

From the NY Daily News
“He was going wild barking,” Fretes said. “I looked out and I saw two people. The girl was screaming.”
Fretes ran outside and yelled at the man, who witnesses said had been watching the girl and her friend before the attack. The suspect tore down part of a fence to escape the backyard on 171st St. in Flushing. The girl wept as she told Fretes about the attack.
Bleu is an absolute hero. We hope that more people recognize the good nature of Pit Bulls; and like all other dogs, when raised correctly they too are gentle giants with hearts of gold.

Any dog can be agressive when treated like some of the pit bulls. It’s commom sense! You can expext to treat the animal like a fighter and go back and just act like nothing happend.I have two pit bulls and they are the best dog i had in my life. They are protestive.

I wholeheartly agree with Daniel…that any dog can become aggressive when treated badly. It’s all in the way a dog is raised; if he is beaten and raised to be a killer…then he will be a killer. If he is taken care of, like any beloved pet, then he will lay down his life to protect his people. I met several pit bulls and they were very friendly towards me. In other words, take care of your pet like it is a family member, cause that is exactly what it is. You take care of him and he’ll take care of you. And kudos to Bleu, and his owner, you are a great dog and a great owner.

I am getting my 3rd Pit Bull and I never had problems with them. Most of the dogs that they say are Pit Bulls are not, no one seems to care that German Sheperds and Rottweilers attack more people then Pit Bulls.

That’s the point. Anonymus,
but don’t make assesments based on how the dogs looks especially because he’sa pit. There are good people doing good thinigs for these dogs and they need to be recognized. It’s attitudes like your’s that give ppl the wrong ideas

I have a 7 yr old chowchow. He’s a total ANGEL, but he’s considered an “aggressive breed”, and banned in rental communities in our city. I had to LIE just to find a home for us. I don’t know about YOU, anonymous, but I’ve met mean dogs and nice dogs from MANY breeds. AND, I have a childhood scar on my hand from a freaking poodle attack!!!

pitbulls are the best breed of dog when trained right. and this story is a good example. they are also the best dog if you just had a child. Get the pit as a pup when your hild is about 3 and that dog will be that kids best freind. So that hild will always have a protector for as long as that dog is alive.

I wish there were more stories like this to hit the mainstream media. We are inundated with the hype and fear surrounding these wonderful dogs when in actuality they are scapegoats for a much larger issue - that of irresponsible dog ownership.

This is only good thing I have ever heard about Pit Bulls. I don’t know how many babies Pit Bulls have killed or injured but I know it is a lot more than one. I have had kids in my office with Pit Bull bites. Usually when a dog bites a human it knows it has fucked up and will only bite once. Hell my dog bit me while playing not a hard bit (she is a great dane remember) and I bleed but it didn’t hurt that much but you could see it in her reaction she didn’t want to come near me at first she must have thought I was going to beat her butt not something I usually do. But an older dog that has exhausted all the other methods of training or need his training reinforced A fev swatts on the nose gets there attention. You don’t have to rub their nose in the poop just them to it and they know.

i really wish more hype about these kinds of stories would get into mainstream media because so many breeds of dogs are given a bad reputation as being aggressive. in my hometown, several breeds were actually banned including rottweilers and pitt bulls. i have a lab rotteweiler mix and he weighs over 100 lbs and is the biggest baby youll ever meet. i think that its just stupid to claim that some dogs are born mean…they are NOT born mean they are bred and raised to be mean if you treat a dog with respect and love and care for the animal then no matter what the breed, the dog will be a sweetheart! more people need to realize this!

I agree with Ruby. It’s all in a way the dog is raised. Dogs can be aggressive, but if treated well, he can also be protective.

Some poeple are hipicrits when they say don’t judge a book by its cover. For example, we would never judge a person who is of African descent , so why should we judge a dog by his or her breed? Pit bulls like many other breeds, will not back down from a challenge. That’s why they risk their lives saving the lives of the ones they love. That’s why I love dogs!
P.S. If you are a dog lover do not go to Kansas because many cities ban breeds based on reputation!

How can you embrace the pit bull and slam the Rottweiler in the same breath?? How prejudiced are you Roderick??? I’m on my 2nd Rott and both have been certified as Therapy Dogs and volunteer with handicapped children. You’re no better than people who hate ALL pits.
