My dad called me this morning to tell me Jake is sick... and my dad was sobbing... In all my 38 years I have NEVER heard/seen my dad cry... it just broke my heart. Oh I just cant get that out of my head.

Jake is an 11 year old big ol' black lab and such a sweetheart. He is the only dog my dad has ever had (dad is 70 years old).

Dad says Jake is losing weight, not eating, throwing up and very lathargic, but still gives a wag of his tail...

I am hoping the vet says it is just a bug.

I am just so bummed... I had to share with y'all.

Hang in there Jake - we are all pulling for you! xoxoxoxoxo

That is so sad - I hope Jake is feeling better.

We will be thinking and praying for Jake and of course, your Dad.

Sending Prayers and healing thoughts for Jake and your Dad. Sure hope there's a good update here tonight. It can be such a scary place when our babes are sick and we don't know what's wrong.

Just got a call from my step-mom...  blood work shows Jake has some sort of problem with his liver... the vet said Jake has lost weight and his eyes and gums have yellow coloring... the folks are taking him for an ultrasound tomorrow to determine the cause of the liver problem... it could be an infection or possibly cancer.

The vet gave Jake fluids, antibiotics and steroids and he went home tonight... to sleep on the couch with my dad.

Thanks so much for all the well wishes for Jake and my dad - it means a lot to us all...  this sucks, to say the least.

Lots of good wishes for an infection and lots of healing vibes.  I hope both your dad and Jake have a good sleep on the couch.

Thanks again for all the well wishes and kind words... I love y'all!

I talked to me dad yesterday... he said the ultrasound shows a couple tumors including one in his stomach, among other problems... I have to call my step-mom for details.  The vet says the Jakester has about 3-4 months left...

Basically the folks are going to monitor his comfort level and not let him suffer..... and shower Jake with tons of love.

so heartbreaking. ..

Big hugs to Jake and your poor Dad. I've never had to live with someone or something that I knew only had a short time left, I cannot imagine what torture that would be.  :'(
