We had a little South Alabama gathering in Mobile this afternoon at the Pet-Palooza. It was great seeing everyone, and meeting some new people. Sophie & Bava fell in love with Baxter who is really cute, he looks like a little Sophie.Â
It was a great testament to big paws, because we had the most well behaved dogs. They all got along very very well, and accepted countless hugs & pets from complete strangers.

Man we had a good time! The kids are still sleeping it off! I was so proud of my 2. They were so good. Bella only almost ate one chihuahua who was very ugly to her and almost bite her on the nose. Foster and a little golden had a few words and then were buds for the rest of the time. I will tell you folks that it is possible to drive a compact stick shift while a dane is sitting on your shoulder... ;D

Bella and I had a great time also. I hate that I had to go before the picture taking. We will definitely have to do the dog park in Pensacola soon.

Baxer was such a "big paw" today. Thank for positing the photos it was tons of fun. Sugar Bear has not move for the past two hours, Dixie on the other hand is still looking for something to jump on. ::)

Baxter was sleeping as soon as we got in the car. then at work every black dog he saw he would run up to wheather they liked it or not. I think he thought it was Bava. Yes we will definatley have to go to pensacola and yes i will bring winston next time. I promise ;D

I move after july 16. That is my last day at work but i think i am not actually moving until the first week of august. Yea you didnt get a pic of poor sugar bears nose. :'( Mean little dog!!! We had so much fun today cant wait for pensacola. Any weekend is good for me as long as yall let me know in advace.

O we only charge 100 dollars but for you we can make a deal. ;) We thought that everyone would think that. He does look like a little Bava and Sophie baby doesnt he!!!

I am not sure if it was the little one or the golden. I feel like such a bad Mommy I did not notice his nose until I got into the car. I put a little bag balm on it and it will be ok. "Bad, Bad, Mommy". I let my little boy get hurt. ;)

There really is nothing better than big ol' doggies with terrific manners. ;D
Seriously, we rocked, compared to how many of the dogs were acting. I was amazed at how well our little gang got along. EVERYONE of our group got along very well, and was on their best behaviour. Passing snarling mojo's etc really just made the big paws look better. We really set a good example of how dogs should behave :)
Oh... and saw some poodles, or whatever.. little dogs, on flexi-leashes the owner with their back turned and the dog out to the full limit of the flexi.

Wow it looks like the Southern contingency had a blast. Pat yourselves on the backs, what a great bunch of ambassadors for all the big paws.

Thanks for posting the other pics. Brandon, I went to site and stole a couple of them. ;) I wanted to send them out to some other friends this morning...
Talking about the snarling mojos making our's look great!... I had forgotten about the little beasts up close to the door. I took Bella and Fos out to go potty and walked by the cages. All of a sudden about 4 of them jumped at Bella and she in turn jumped on me. The look on her face was "WTF?". I just patted her and told her she was a good girl and kept on moving. The ASPCA people standing there were just stunned. Bella could have eaten that cage with about 2 bites and then had an entree of the little twits...

Hey everyone... it was great to see everyone and reconnect! I'm glad to see Brandon and Lisa's shots came out so well. It really was a great day for all... we adopted out 17 of 21 dogs and I understand the other groups did well also. It was also great to see all of the big paws that were there in addition to the members of this board. The Pensacola dane rescue group, Northwest Florida Great Dane Rescue, had a booth and 2 danes there. Also in attendance were another Pyr, a very trim (wearing the requisite summer cut, that is) St Bernard and others. One of the groups there had a pair of 1 y/o merliquin dane brothers that were adopted - I gave that guy the Big Paws web address, as he will definitely have his hands full! I'm looking forward to the next time we get together!

All the pictures are wonderful but Bava, Sophie and Baxter seem like they stole the show! How CUTE!!!! Baxter really does look like a mini Sophie. Looks like they hit it off beautifully! Best news of all though is that it sounds like a lot of dogs got new homes.

Do we need to bring vacination records for dogs. I read on some dog parks in Georgia they needed them to make sure dogs were healthy.
I dont care what park we go to but i will tell you if we go to the one with the bach my dogs will swim. So i will definately bring shampoo and towels. But it might wash off all the Newfy drool. ;)

The only bad thing about the dog parks is you have to share them with other dogs. Hahaha.. What am I saying this will be a group of Big Paws. I think they should be ok, considering how well they all got along at the pet palooza.

That sounds like a plan! Anyone else good to go with this date? We can even car pool/train since we've been there. Maybe bring some lunch or something and make a day of it. Oh there's lots of shade too! And fountains for both people and dogs.
Sounds fantastic to me!! Wow, I'm excited and nervous. Bella and I have never been to a dog park.

I'll try to come. Unfortunately, holiday weekend, combined with an early morning and no children allowed does not make for a good combination for me, but I never know what my dh will decide. I couldn't bring Sapphire as she's confined for an injury, but maybe Leo and Gucci?

I have emailed the Pensacola Dog Owners Assoc to ask their opinion, if this is appropriate use, etc..
I'm looking for a place that we can dine al fresco with the dogs afterwards, not much luck so far though.

Ok guys. I had a brain fart. If ya'll are serious about wanting t-shirts...the cheapest way to do this is for me to do transfers. I would, of course, have everyone's approval of the shirt and make any appropriate changes. I'm guessing that regular t's cost around $5/ea and the cost of the transfer is +/- $2, so that would mean the t's would be approximately $7 or 8. What do you think?

I think it is a great idea. I would not say a lot about it and maybe use the small dog park. If you use the large dog park you may get a lot of other dogs, some friendly and others unknown. If I can help you in anyway, please let me know.
The small dog park would be the one with the beach. Would that work out? What do you think?
I think Mel and I will need to invest in ski ropes, cause our pups will be swimming away, I am not sure what would happen and am a bit apprehensive if they have a large body of water to swim in.. they are really really into their swimming.

The beach would be great. I'm really wondering if Bella will get in the water or not. She will not get in the child's pool that I bought for her, and she's getting worse every time I try to bathe her. When she was smaller, she had no problem with water, but now who knows??? Hopefully, she will follow the others in. :D

Ok...As for the shirts, I was going to answer the most commonly asked questions such as "What does it eat" and "where's the saddle". I was also thinking that I could include a pic of your dog(s) on it and the BPO web address. So if you would pm/email me with your size, color preference (although I'm not sure I can get specific colors) and possibly a pic of your furbabies, I'll get started on them. When I get close to finished, I'll email each of you with a copy of what the shirts will look like.
