I've heard about the meet that's suppose to be in P'cola on the 1st. Can anyone give me any info? I've looked on the boards and I can't find anything! This site is addicting by the way, I feel like I have to read it all!! When I figute out how to add pics (not to savvy at this) I will. Thanks!

Also, as far as pictures, you need to click on additional options (below in the box in which you type when posting a message), and click on the browse button. A small window will open in which you can select the file to be attached from the folders on your computer. Make sure that the picture(s) are smaller than the 40,000 KB limit (which is 40 megabytes I think?). If you would like to attach more than one, just click on "more attachments" until you have one box for each picture.
I think that there is an FAQ somewhere or other on here that concisely explains how to attach pictures and post an avatar (the picture next to your name).
You might also want to private message Melissakins, as I think she is organizing it, or another person who is going, if you need more information.

I think we need to start deciding where to meet and what time. I would think that 8am would be a good time, so it won't be hot like you said before.
I know that some of us are in Mobile and some are in Baldwin County (maybe more out there elsewhere also). Where would a good place be?
Did Brandon's post also have directions? We wouldn't want anyone to get lost!

I definitely want to go! My rescue Boxer needs socialization! She's great with other dogs, very shy with other people, but not aggresive. So any chance I get!! My names Heatherton by the way I live in midtown, Mobile.

We meet at the park @ 8-8:30, spend a few hours letting the dogs romp & play, and then say 10:30-11'ish we head over to "Central Bark Bakery". It is a new gourmet dog shop in Pensacola. It is located on 403 South Palafox.
We can also meet @ the Wilcox Exit on I-10 and caravan if anyone wants to do that.

T-shirts are being done at cost. If you haven't already sent me pics, size and color preference, please do so asap. I figure they're to be around $10ish. I haven't gotten the shirts yet but am hot on the trail. Everyone that has sent me pics, your transfers are already finished so I just need to get the shirts and get them to you.
Of course, I'm coming with the danes. All 3 if Mozart is still here. I think the day will be too much for Baloo. If it were winter he could go. I'm taking him out this weekend for a short, quiet jaunt all his own.
I can't wait to see everyone. I've also invited several other people in the area and I hope they show up both here on the board and at the excursion.

Ok, just a thought, but do you think we should meet even earlier, I was looking at what the temps are like in Pensacola.  It is really really darned hot. It looks like by 10am it is already 90. There is the water there, so Maybe I am being an overprotective parent. The park hours are 6am-9pm BTW.

I know I am not a morning person, and Melissa is definetly not on Saturdays :) But we can grab our joe & pups and be able to get the pretty early.

I can meet you at Wilcox at 5...Is that too early? Late? We can make it 4... Can you tell I'm excited? I can come regardless of time. I'm up every morning at 5 no matter what. I just have to feed and milk and I can be there.

If I'm coming from Mobile, that's the exit after the beach exit, correct?? It has a huge truckstop, right?

Oh yeah, everyone will have to excuse Bella's appearance. :-[ She began having a ton of hair loss. Turns out, her hives that were happening for who knows what kind of allergen became a skin infection. Folliculitis!! She is on antibiotics for two weeks, but my poor baby's hair isn't a pretty as it usually is. :(

Oh I am so sorry that Brandon does not feel good. We do have to plan another one very soon. I got my shirt from cricket today, so I am going to have it on even if I am not there in person I will be in spirit.Â

Well, that sucks that Brandon isn't feeling well. Hopefully the new antibiotics work. I know what you mean about the medical profession, I had a doctor tell me (granted he ran some tests and they came back neg.), that some people just hurt, and apparently I'm one of those people! Well, I plan on going. I might not be moving the greatest!! Had a knot next to my shoulder blade, went to work tonight, turned my head and that was it!! Neck and shoulder area not happy with me!! But me and my boxer (don't have a BP anymore) will be at the fireworks place at 7. That's off the Wilcox exit right?

Yea I decided i couldnt go either. Baxter has lost so much weight from being sick and Bell is in standing heat. I would only have taken Winston but i am worried about leaving baxter for too long. I will just have to travel down to see everyone from georgia. i move on the fifth :'(

Somebody else will have to bring the camera...Ds lost mine today at the dog park. >:( >:( >:( I can't believe it. I told him to go get the towels and put the camera in the car and he totally spaced on me. Now he doesn't remember ever having it. So I guess someone at the dog park has a mediocre Kodak now. >:(
That aside, we had a blast!!!! Our pups were, of course, the best behaved there and had the best recall/control. Bella did her diva queen routine at first but settled right down. We went in the "big" park first and got everyone aquainted and then went down to the beach. Even Bell (the other one 8) ) swam. Bava and Sophie ruled the water of course. Feste and my Bella did their darndest to drown a boxer that was there. Chance was just happy everyone was there to play with him. Daphne was just happy to play.
We left there and went downtown to the bakery. They have some really neat stuff! They even carry the really cool backpacks! The dogs gave their resounding approval of the gourmet treats too. Then we went down to a sidewalk cafe and had lunch. They really catered to our pups...They brought out pitchers of water and styrofoam bowls and everything. They were very happy to have us there. The pups gave a very good accounting of themselves to all of the other patrons too. By the time we all left and came home, everyone was exhausted!
I unloaded kids and Bella and loaded up Mo and Fos and took them to the duck pond in Fairhope. I have discovered that Mo isn't all that impressed with people running up to him to pet him. I guess with his deafness, he doesn't like all that motion around his head. Both of them were perfect gentlemen though. Baloo got to go for a walk when we all got home. I'm a very tired little girl now...

WOW! What a great day! As Cricket posted, all the kids were great and had an absolute blast! We met some interesting folks while we were out there and maybe got a few new members. It was a wonderful way for all of us to give our pups a chance to socialize and play togather (and play they did!) as well as for the humans to hang out and share our love and enjoyment of our furry friends. I'm definitely looking forward to the next time.
A well-deserved shout-out to Tre Fratelli Italian restaurant and to Central Bark Bakery in Pensacola for their incredible hospitality (and great eats!) - if you are ever in Pensacola give them a try and let them know we appreciate it!

I felt like poop on a cracker, and still had a great great time yesterday. We have some slower moving pups here today, and just downright lethargic last night, I know they had a blast. Bava was very taken with Daphne the Boxer, he didn't want to leave her side, but then she would kinda follow him when he went off sometimes, so I think those two became really good buds. Sophie was a wild child as usual, I was just really suprised at how much darned energy she has, I guess it is a landseer thing, she's our turbo newf :) When Bella & Feste weren't working on that boxer, she and Feste were working on him, she took more than she gave, he kept submerging her, but I think she liked it? Who knows, she's a strange kid. I think they were just giving him heck because he POOPED IN THE WATER though.. eeeew.
Cricket did a great job of summing up our day. It was funny when our group decided to go over to the water park, the whole dog park emptied out with us and followed us over there. Â
All the dogs got washed up at the wash station on the beach, and we headed with our clean dogs to the central bark bakery, where we actually met a Great Dane that belonged to the owner of the bakery who was taller than Feste, never thought I would see that. It's a nice place that I want to go back to soon, they sell higher end great such as Katie's bumpers, and ruff wear, really really good stuff. Oh and the bakery goods, I'm pretty sure I'll probably try some of those myself, they smell really good.
Tres Fratelli was very very nice to accomodate us and our pups , our waitress was a very nice lady we had actually seen at the park before who has an Argentinean Mastiff.
They brought out several pitchers of cold water for the pups and COLD BEER! (YAY!) for us :) and the food was very good. Oh and thank you very much Cricket! for doing the Shirts, and the stylin' bibs look awesome!

fantastic photos! Daphne had a great time, she slept the whole way home, and she never sleeps much in the car she always watches where we are going! I hate that I couldn't go eat with ya'll. Got ready for work, went up there, walked in and they said "Oh, we got your shift covered" I said thanks for the phone call!! So laid with the heating pad and ice for the rest of the night! We will definitely have to do this again!

You know Sugar Bear and Dixie have had green stuff in their eyes since then. It is getting better this week, so I think they may have picked up something.

This has been the first time that Sugar Bear or Dixie has had the eye boogers. Dixie got it about a week after Sugar Bear.

Yea baxter's caough had alot of mucus in it. There was nothing dry about it. He had pnuemonia. Not viral but bacterial. He got it from inhaling his water. The vet said that it wasnt contageous. None of the rest of my crew got it.
You might want to check out kennel cough. When the vet found out that i went to that adoption that was the first thing on his list. Give him big hugs from us too.

Ummmmm...... I guess you can say good. The thing that is the worst about it is that i cant even start paking the dog stuff until the last day. But i am pretty much done with me and the horses. I really HATE moving. I wish i could just snap my fingers and us be there. ;D

Took Bava to the vet @ 4 this afternoon, vet said he sounds and looks very good. Made sure to have him listen to his lungs, down his throat etc. I think it he probably pulled too hard on his leash when we took him in for his neuter. We'll probably try a gentle leader to give his neck a break for a while.
I think another Pensacola outting would be a good idea. This one was a blast, and I'm sure the dogs wouldn't mind one bit. Melissa was so pumped when we left, she was was like ... "We need to make this a monthly thing!",
We really need to talk about a South Alabama dog owners associaction also at some point.
PS: Melissa wants to know what time you'll be at Petsmart tommorrow?

I'm in for it being a monthly deal and for the association. I have a lady that is thinking about taking a dane girl in my rescue that was a part of an association and she's got a ton of info. I'm getting up with her on Wed so I'll see what she has and pass it along. For the time being, if you're interested in joining, email me or pm me your contact numbers and I'll just get a file going. We could perhaps meet in the beginning of August and organize then? And go to the park again about the same time? Aug 5th? It's the 1st Sat of the month. The following week school starts back...But I think I'm the only one with that issue. I just know that between now and then I've got several trips I have to make to Biloxi and Montgomery. Unless ya'll want to get together perhaps on July 29th? That's the last Sat of the month and my rats will be gone at least.

You know I'm in! For both the monthly thing and the association! He*$, I'm even going to try out some doggie treat recipes to bring some snacks for the guys!
I work every other Saturday morning, so I know for sure that I am free for July 29 or August 12. If ya'll decide to do it on August 5, as long as I have enough notice, I can probably switch my work Saturdays. Just let me know as soon as we all decide.
Can't wait to get the info from you, Cricket. I've been brainstorming with myself to figure out who I know that may know someone else, etc.etc, that would know how to go about doing whatever is needed to get a dog park of our own. You know, I just think that they should fence off the area downtown with the fountains and just let us have it!!! :D :D :D :D It would be perfect! ;D ;)

lol... my boys already use the fountains in Spanish Plaza - when the fountains are working that is... Seriously, though, I believe that one of Mobile's 'string of pearls' was to rebuild Monroe Park on Mobile Bay. I've talked to a couple of people and we are going to try to find out if that is still in the works and, if so, how to get a dog park along the lines of the one in Pensacola considered as a part of it.

Which park is that? Is that the one along the causeway, or I am thinking of a different one? Wherever it is, that sounds great.
