Wow you guys! I knew that I loved BPO and all that you have made this site to be but I didn't think you would all be so willing to pitch in and help us out in our time of need. I must confess that I did feel really guilty to ask you all for your help because I didn't want to impose...but.. .since so many of you have so graciously volunteered I think I shall! ;D
Here is what we need some people to do that will greatly benefit the site:
1. Blog Writers- This is a position for anyone who comes across anything dog related that thinks it is cool to share for the rest of us only it is written in a more journalistic fashion. Stories can be found online, in magazines, in papers, wherever. For example, stories on dog laws, abuse cases, heroic stories or unusual things. Content adds value to the site and helps us bump up in the search engines....so the more we write the better we are. ;) The more contributing writers the better. If you need pictures to be added or anything we can do that for you but the writing is the most important part.
2. Big Pawpedia Writers- This position is for anyone who wants to add a personal story/reflection/experience with the specific dog breed that they own. This will be added to the Pedia section of the site and will help give anyone who is wondering about breeds a more insightful view of the breed.
There were other things mentioned that I want to address as well so that you don't think that I didn't read your suggestions.
1. Monthly Contest- Call me selfish but I love to do these and really like being the first one to see the photos. ;D This really takes no time to do at all so I can still handle this job.
2. Featured Paw Print- The technical stuff on the site is something that Michael does because it is pretty tricky but we can take votes to nominate/pick the dog atop the site.
3. BPO Store- This will be coming back but as some of you know, we had a pretty unreliable contact before and since we moved, we're going to have to look for a new supplier. This will be up eventually but for now this is on hold.
4. BPO Sunshine Club Commitee Chairperson- Though she has not formally been asked if she would be willing to do this, Tina has been the card sender-outer for sometime now, so if she is willing I will pass the complete duties to her from now on. :)
5. BPO Moderators- This is a tough job and although we do have some global moderators on the site we might have to add a few to ease their workload. Selection for this is really hard because situations do arise where things can get sticky.
6. BPO Happy Birthday Chairperson- This person has not been asked if she would like the position either, but if she accepts then Lins will be the official Happy Birthday topic starter. :D
So, I think that is all for now. Let me know if you are interested in contributing to the blog or pedia and I will give you more info. on it.
Also...THANK YOU for all of your kind words and support. All of you mean more to me that you will ever know. And for the record- BPO is NOT for sale thanks to all of you. Our BPO is here to stay the way that each of us has come to know & love it.

YAY! I haven't been here long, but I would go crazy if I didn't have this place! It is as vital to me as my morning coffee, and thats pretty important! If anyone would like to write for the blog or pedia, but has issues with writing or spelling, I am a pretty fair editor, and would love to contribute in any way I can.

Good to hear from you Jamie! I do have some idea of what you are going through. We've moved 4 times over the past 20 years. It always takes 6 mo. to 2 years after each major move, to finally get to the point where you are comfortable making time to do some of those things you so loved.
Although we are busy, I will help if I can, just let me know.
Thank you for NOT turning this over/selling to someone else. The potential for negative changes on this board would be great. I appreciate your hard work and dedication, hopefully deligation of the responsibiliti es will be helpful and allow BPO to remain the friendly board it is today!

I am so glad that you and Michael have come to the decision to stay with BPO. When I read your first message, I was glad you were being honest with yourself and the rest of us that you needed more help, but I was also very disheartened that you wanted to leave us. I know it has been crazy for you guys lately with your move and career change, but things will settle down and you will be able to get back to BPO eventually. So I am so happy you have decided to stay! :) I think I've been doing a pretty good job helping hold down the fort as a moderator, and of course I would be happy to continue doing that. I'm also happy to help with whatever else you (and the other moderators) need help with - the blog, sunshine committee, etc. Just let me know what you need and I will be there.

Lins, I think it is ok to post birthdays prior to the date. If you decide to post birthdays on the date and can't do it on the weekend, I could help you out on the weekends, because I'm pretty much online at least a little bit every day

Well I haven't been on line much since my computer was having issues I apparently missed quite a bit.
I will have to go back and read some posts from a day or two ago.
BUT..I also volunteer to do whatever necessary to keep the BPO that we know and love up and running.

I don't have a lot of free time, but I do enjoy writing and can probably put out a couple of 'articles' a month, although I'm not very familiar with blogging - point me in a direction and I'll give it a go, though. Please let me know if this will help

Wow! I'm so glad to hear that this situation is working out! I wonder if the pawpedia information could be gleaned from posts on here where people have asked about certain breeds... Might take some searching to find some of those posts. My time is sporadic. When I feel ok, I have tons of things I really need to do. When I'm struggling with my health, I have a lot of time where I can only sit so I could probably do some writing if it was needed. I'll try to do some surfing next time I have some down time.

I've also been away from the computer for a few days (hard to imagine...I know) and am just now getting caught up on posts. I don't have a lot of time to do heavy writing (nor do I really have the talent) but if there is a need for assistance moderating or anything, I'd be pleased to help out. I'd also be fine with showing support through more formal membership too if that ever becomes a consideration. I'm just echoing so many here when I say that BPO was/is a lifeline for me through Barkley's illness ... and has become a daily destination for me now. Thanks Jaime, Michael and Amazing Bear!

I didn't think this online community would let you guys give up the site without tremendous support!! I am very happy to see people step up to the plate to help out in whatever way they can. I've been browsing, designing and participating with all things internet related for many years, and it was a long time ago that I gave up on online forums. I never liked the bad attitudes, arguing, flaming and trolls associated with them. It was not until Angus came into my life and I discovered this online community that I finally decided to take the plunge and register for another forum again. I absolutely love bigpawsonly and because of it I have a great realtionship with my big paw. I may not post in every topic, look at every picture, or offer any advice but I visit everyday and read just about every post and feel the laughter, the joy and the heartache. LONG LIVE BPO!! If ever you need html, css work done just let me know, it would be my pleasure.

WOW - I wasn't on BPO for a few days and OMG was I sad when I started reading the other post!!!
Jaime and Michael, this place is so awesome, and even though all the members/moterators are awesome too - it's your creation and you both love it SO MUCH, I would be so sad to see you let go of it :'(
SO - I'm VERY HAPPY to see everyone is willing to help out (I am also willing to help out too by the way ;)) YAY!!!
This place is a home to me, sometimes I don't know what I would do without BPO! THANKS SO MUCH for everything BPO!!! ;D

Thank you Jamie and Michael for all that you do. We all understand that life just happens and other priorities arise. Sometimes in life it just gets so busy that there are just not enough hours in a day to meet our needs. Thank you for creating such a warm and friendly environment for dog owners and lovers to meet. ;D
