I tried to get some of you to come to chat last Sunday, to catch up on the last 6 months which I was mostly MIA. But, I also would like those of you who have lost a Big Paw, an opportunity to write a chapter for a book.
The book would be a "chicken soup" type book with each chapter being devoted to one of the big paws we loved and lost from members of this board. Each person would write and select pictures as well. I am certain that we could find volunteers to edit for you if needed.
Once completed we will seek a publisher. If none can be found, we will publish ourselves. If any profit is made, 10% goes to charity and 10% to help support this website. All remaining profits will be divided equally by the authors.
If you are interested please pm me. I'll set another time for an organizational meeting in either Chat or at PalTalk.
Hope we have a few takers... it should be a great experience for all involved!

That is something that we can all decide at a meeting. I was thinking maybe by next Jan., unless everyone is ready and motivated sooner.
If we can get a dozen or so people interested, you can get started!

I think this is a great idea. i yet to loose a BP, but i have a friend who lost her GSD Airedale mix 2 or 3 years ago, she may be interested if non-BPO'ers are welcome. i have tried to get her on here, but she hasn't come yet! If it is ok, i am sure she would love to do this in honor of Tess, and to help BPO. What charity are you thinking of donating to? HSUS?

I can do a piece on Alexander the Great Dane, my first dane.

I lost my male Great Pyrenees, Tank, in February, I would love to honor him in some way as he was a special and dearly missed friend. I am not sure that I know how to participate in the chat- but would love to learn. I only have a few pics of him as well, but I do have some.
I would also like to see some proceeds go to a spay neuter program. I cant take on any more rescues and it breaks my heart when I know that there is one out there that needs a home and needs to be loved.

Yay! The drag is that most of next week I'm at the trailer with no computer access. We will be in the city on the weekend (Aug 5 & 6) and the 7th is good as well. I'm open to times, although am on the east coast of Canada so making sure that it's not at 1 a.m. for me would be nice! :)

Hi Everybody,
We will have a writers meeting Monday, August 14th at 8:30pm CST. We will meet in PalTalk. (Go to www.paltalk.co m to register.) Please email me at dazaroff@msn.com with your user name and any info you would like presented at the meeting. I will email you a written agenda on the 13th, evening.
We will have a make up meeting the following week if you are unable to attend. However, if you cannot make it PLEASE send your input, questions, and concerns so that they may be presented to all participants.
I do know that this may seem a little far away yet, but we have people vacationing and moving, so I am trying to plan in advance so everyone can try to arrange schedules to participate.
Why PalTalk? Simple, so we do not tie up the chatroom and this gives both voice and text to move things along more quickly.
We will have a separate editors meeting later. We are still in need of at least one more editor.
Look forward to hearing from everyone!

I have had a few people notify me that they are unable to attend. Only one person can make it. So, unless more of you are able the meeting, may have to be tabled until we can get a 50% turn out. Fifteen people contacted me wanting to contribute, and 2 maybes. Unfortunately, I just do not have the time to contact and discuss things individually back and forth with all of you, so an initial meeting is necessary.
I will post this evening should the meeting need to be rescheduled.

Chelle, I think the meeting needs to be cancelled/tabled until further notice... :(
For all of you who expressed interest and anyone else, if you still wish to write a chapter for this project/book, you must participate in an initial meeting. (That means loading up PalTalk, sending me your user name, and attending the meeting.) I will schedule an initial meeting after I have heard from at least 10 of the seventeen people who posted or pm'd who showed interest. The meeting will be scheduled so that a minimum of 8 people can attend, and a follow up meeting will be arranged for those who miss. You will need to follow minimal guidelines and meet the deadline. That's all. Hopefully, maybe in a couple of weeks or a month, everyone's schedule will settle down with summer winding down?

I'm afraid I'll be getting tied up here soon. I've had a couple of pm's asking if they can get started writing.... ??? So, I will give you the following guidelines to get started. Once I have 8 people email me their chapter, we can meet at that point. :) Hope this will help everyone to move forward.
1. Chapter should tell us about your dog from the time you had got him until he died. Show why you loved him by detailing some of those special moments you shared, or in detail one moment.
2. Double space.
3. Use a size 14, Times New Roman font.
4. Twelve page min. plus 3 additional pages of photos. Forty page maximum, total photo/written combination.
5. Please EMAIL your completed chapter to me. Put "BPO book" in the subject box, so I don't accidentally delete it with junk mail.
6. Deadline: Dec. 22, 2006, unless otherwise posted. (May be extended, but will not be moved up.)
Since no one was able to make a meeting, I would greatly appreciate it if you could post or pm if you are still interested. ;D
