Hello friends and neighbors! Nicole here your friendly neighborhood meet-n-greet hostess here!
Ok. First I'd like to say that I'm totally jazzed about all of this and can't WAIT to meet all of you and your dogs! And get to hang out with those of you that I have met and am happy to call my friends!
I would like to firm up plans since its coming soon. Let's try to make this thread super organized, so that we can all quickly glance and see what's up.
First thing, Schedule. I am going to post what I think is happening, please correct me if I've gotten it wrong.
Friday:
-Meet at Stella and Dale's campsite for a hobo dinner, cooked by Lin's hubby.
Nicole:Taters, Corn and Onions
Lin:Pork Chops
April:paper/plastic dinner wear
Lin's hubby:a big ol' pot and some mad cookin' skills
Megan:S'mores stuff
Saturday:
-Beach!!! Meet at Nicole and Julie's campsite and we'll caravan down there. Nicole, Julie, Megan and Molly will go to the beach early and bring stuff (tables, chairs, etc.) down there. I'm thinking about trying to figure out a way to bring some umbrellas or something down there for shade for the dogs.
Food:We haven't officially discussed this yet. I think that a good idea would be for everyone to bring what they need for their doggers (water, etc.) and sandwiches/snacks that they would like to have on the beach. I think that it would be easier to coordinate this way. Perhaps bring what you'd like to eat, and a little extra, so that we can swap and share? I will definitely have a cooler, and it would probably be better with several. I will try to locate several, so that you guys driving a good distance don't have to bring them. I know that my parents have a ton and would probably be willing to share. My mom is going to be there anyway, so I'm sure it will be no big deal. Please weigh in on this (food situation), guys!!! :)
Saturday Night:
-Once again, this hasn't been discussed. I'm thinking something simple like burgers/hot dogs, etc. Here's another spot for everyone to weigh in.
Sunday:
-Ok. So, I propose we leave this day kind of loosely planned. I know that many people will be leaving. So, why don't we just sort of play this one by ear? Those of us that want to can spend more time at the beach, maybe go out to dinner, maybe have a cook-out at my house? Once again, can I get a hollah about these ideas? ;)
In closing:
Please! If I have left anything out, let me know! I'm sure that there are a ton of things that I'm not thinking of. If anyone has any questions about the area, the facilities, the accomodations, ANYTHING, please; let me know. I'm here for you! :) :)

Great, Liz! Everyone put what they're brining, and at the end of this (in a few days) I'll summarize with bullet points and what-not.
Oh, and of course there will be room, Liz! I'm snagging two sites! And its OK. Leave the boys to sleep. They're less cranky that way, and we won't have to put them down for a nap later, ya know?

Thought for Saturday supper. If we want to meet back at our campsites ( Lins, us and April) we will be happy to host liz's weenies, and WDale and I will bring burgers, buns and a pasta salad, maybe some chips? The camper is pretty much stocked with the comforts of home so cooking is a breeze, and has a fridge for the meat. This way all everyone has to bring is something to drink and we will be set. Let me know.

I'll be there friday night around 6 or 7 and leaving after breakfast on sunday. The only thing I would need to know is where the nearest store is and directions. Also the finally number of people so I know how many plates and stuff to bring.

For a minute I got all excited today & posted that Randy & I would come up for the day on Fri....He even wanted to come!...Then I found out nobody was meeting until Fri. evening so I deleted my post...I am bummed! :(

I'll need the final number of people to get the right amount of hot dogs. I figure 2 costco packages which is 6 normal packages??? Just let me know...if I bring 3 or 4 and its too much, someone can just bring them home with them :)
I'll also get chips and stuff. We'll have the SUV packed to the brim :)
Liz's weenies, and throw in some burgers as well. For Saturday?? evening, I think. Darn it now I am confused!

We are in two different campgrounds a stone's throw from Michigan City Indiana. It is about 1 1/2 hrs from Chicago. Come join us, it will be a blast!

Absolutely! We will bring Pudgie Pie makers for Saturday night. THe possibilites are endless for fillings. We'll bring some stuff for fillings, probably pizza type stuff.

I'm so bummed I probably can't go now. That is, unless we either move very quickly to Chicago, or I find a very high paying job fast enough to make some cash to travel.

What about breakfast Saturday morning? Are we fending for ourselves at our own campsite?
Then on Sunday maybe we could all get together for breakfast somewhere to say good bye to those that are leaving right away? Or is that too early?

Ok I need the exact address for the Federal Campground. Jamie and I are mapping out what the fuel cost will be and I need the address to figure that out. I've looked online but have not had luck.

Well, I'm not sure of the exact address either. I will do my best to find it...or something that I know is close. Its on Hwy 12 in hmm..not exactly sure which city they consider that...I guess Beverly Shores. I'll keep looking.

yeah...you're a hour closer to us than Toronto, right? I always get to Toronto from Michigan City in a little less than 8 hours. So, if you're an hour closer than that, you should be good to go!

because this is in like 4 DAYS!!! I thought i would bump it. if any one has a map or directions they'd like to post or needs to ask any final questions or would like to meet somewhere and get lost together...wou ld be a good time to do it. :) I am using the campground addy as a map and I have Nicole's phone number to call if I need to.

And I am making the ice cream tonight and freezing it hard. Three gallons, one each of vanilla (with topping fixin's) fresh peach, and mint chocolate chip. I am so psyched.

cool. I think I counted 17 people for sure at one time...but I just need to know exactly what to tell hubby cuz he wants a head count before we leave (ok sooner than that) so we can plan the hobo pork chop dinner. I'm trying to pack light and buy stuff when we get there since we have to pack the tent, sleeping bags, clothes and a few other things with the girls in the back of the jeep.
all we need to get before we leave are 2 tripods for the cast iron kettles and we'll find those here in town.
I got your hubby's cell number and will call if we need to. if he wrote my numbers down or saved his call history in his cell phone he should have at least my cell phone number. I talked to him maybe an hour ago.
We should be crossing paths at the indiana illinois border (depending on what time we all leave.)

I don't know how you are planning on coming down Liz, but if you are taking I-94, please get off on the New Buffalo, Michigan Exit (exit 1). If you go inti indiana to exit there is construction that will have you sitting in a sea of cars for an hour.
I imagine any mapping program would send you through New Buffalo anyway, but I just wanted to make sure since every Friday I go under I-94 at the first Indiana exit and see the swarms of people waiting to get through.

Oh I am so jealous that I won't be in IN yet for the Meet-n-Greet! Everyone take and post lots of photos and I can't wait for the next one to be able to bring Boudreaux!! Be careful and have a blast!

take I-94 to IN-49N, and that will turn into North County Road 25 North. It will end right at the entrance of the Indian Dunes State Park. They will give you directions at the gate, but you just need to bear right after the gate to get to the campground. You have Dale's cell phone if you need to call, he is fairly familar with the area if you get UMMMm misplaced, LOL

I just noticed that you said you are going to Nicole's first. Those directions might be alright, but the exit is the one I was talking about that I go past every Friday that is a parking lot(exit 40)...but since you don have do go any further than that, you might be okay.
You can still avoid it if you want and it is not any more complicated to get there. Just let me know if you want directions

Ok. Secondly. On Saturday, its kind of a bring your own kind of thing, I believe. I think that the way we left it was that we are going to all bring whatever snacks/beverages etc. we would like to have at the beach, and bring enough to share a little, and that way we can all have something different if we want. Dinner is at Stella's on Sat. night, so I think that Liz is bringing weenies and Stella and Dale are doing burgers? So, perhaps you could bring...umm... a side? I think April is bringing plates and stuff.

Lady and Grace are almost packed and ready to go. we're deciding what toys to bring for chewing in the car.
And we're working on our manners so hopefully Lady won't be the camp bully. :) We've made so much progress.

Well, I'm going to have Mark build us a lean-to at the campsite, so that will help. I just hope that the rain doesn't ruin our beach fun! On a positive note, though...the fear of rain will probably mean that we will have the beach all to ourselves!

Tip:
Get a big tarp (15x15) & twine and you can tie the tarp to trees and tents/campers and it will keep you out of the rain (or sun). Been camping in the rain and it makes a HUGE difference! Have fun!!!!!!!!

YES! Get a tarp! Mark is an expert rain-shelter builder person. Also, everyone may want to rain-proof their tent before they leave. You can buy the spray stuff in the sporting goods section at Wal-Mart or at any camping/sporting goods store like Gander Mountain, Dick's, etc. The only thing is that I think that you need to let it dry overnight, so everyone might want to set up their tents tonight and spray them, and let them dry until tomorrow.

We have 36 angus burgers to grill for Saturday night, but I can short order them and just make what everone wants in whatever degree of doneness. Kristie is bringing pasta salad and chips for munchies. Just wing it, Liz, whatever you bring will be fine.

April, Brad, Kiah & Kitana are rolling...Apri l called at around 10:15 to tell me they were on the interstate & heading...They are staying here tonight!...I am VERY excited but bummed we couldn't make the meet n greet...We'll pop on tonight & post some pics!...Have fun guys!!! :)

Thanks guys! I am just so stressed about living under the microscope at home and worrying and wondering and being the only one who notices their progress. :) I about burst into tears on the way to work today because I've just HAD IT with those people.
Lady and Grace are sweet pups. I just wish my neighbors knew that.

OMG! This is better than Christmas!
I spoke with April this morning, she was just getting ready to leave Chelle's. Julie cancelled her last dog walk so she can get here early, and Dale got the day off, so Stella and Dale are going to arrive earlier than expected, too!
I've got my tent set up at the site, and Julie and Liz's site reserved and ready to go!
