Well, I was thrown for a loop. My rottie/lab mix, the healthy one who's never had an ailment in his life, died. We found him in the morning on Friday, August 25. We do not know what happened; we are still in shock. Our hearts are broken as we prepare for the excruciating next turn in which we must help Greta. :'( :'(

I am broken and will remain broken for a while. I am glad he shared his life with me, but I am having the hardest time coming to terms with his unexpected departure. I feel guilty and I'm beating myself up about what I should have done. :'(

I am so sorry for your loss. Sometimes there is just no explanation for these things. It was just meant to be. I know that is no comfort, but please don't beat yourself up about this, there was no way you could have known.

Oh Moon! Words can't express how sorry I am for your loss. I know you must be devestated as is Greta. We'll be here with you every step of the way. Let us know if you need anything. Remember though, Lou is looking down on you from high above protecting you as he always did.

I am so sorry to hear about Lou's passing. In the grieving process you will always have a period where you feel you could have done more, but you should not blame yourself. Sometimes it just happens. Allow yourself to be sad, but also remember back on the good times you had together. Look at some old pictures, think about the good times, share a story about Lou with friends, and hopefully, in time, you will smile again when you think about him.

I am so sorry to hear about Lou. :'( Sometimes it is harder on you when they leave so quickly. He lived a good life and was loved much. Do not feel guilt, we all have to leave this Earth.

I am so very sorry about Lou. I can tell you loved him very much, and I am sure you were the light of his life. Don't beat yourself up about it. I heard a story and I think you should hear it, too.
A young boy and his mother take their dog in for an annual check-up, but instead of getting some simple shots, they find their beloved pet is terminally ill. They decide there is nothing more they can do for him, and choose to take him home and have him euthanized there. The boy was very calm as he held the dog in his arms while he closed his eyes and died. After the procedure was over, the vet asked the boy why he had been so calm about the whole thing. The boy replied "Every animal-even people-comes here to learn to be nice. It takes people a really long time to learn how to do be nice, but dogs already know, so they can go back heaven before us." The vet was astonished by the boys answer, and left the home feeling comforted, his dog had died only a week before.
I hope ths helps a little, i wish i could do more.

Moon I'm sorry to hear of your loss,Lou sounds like he didn't want you to suffer thru any illness with him,and choose to leave quickly.
Don't have guilt,that is the last thing he would have wanted.He I'm sure loved you and yours and he left to watch you from a place he can always be with you.
Hang in there,the pain will ease,when all the great times you shared flood your memory.

Lou's last photos...In the last one he looks so sad. I think he knew something wasn't right; he wasn't feeling well, but couldn't tell us what was wrong. We just thought he was depressed: he still ate, his eyes still shone, his tail still wagged...he just seemed down a bit.
