It's been 5 years...
I can remember where I was, what I was doing, even what I was wearing...
:'(  I still cry when I think about it.
My grandparents were on the runway at O'Hare Airport in Chicago heading for Las Vegas when Tower 1 was hit.  For 5 hours, I had no idea where or how they were.  Thankfully, their plane never made it off the ground.

It changed our lives and touched each of us in a different way...

For me, it was my epiphany...
I knew I had to take action and get out of an abusive marriage.  Life is too short.  I knew my 18 month old daughter and I deserved a better life.

God bless all those who lost their lives in New York, Washington, D.C., & those who gave their lives to save others in Pensylvania.

God Bless America

I was just discussing 9/11 with Harley (yes my dog) this morning, I cried and he came to console me.  I unfortunately didn't change my life for the better that day as Kristi did; I grew up on Long Island (living in Rochester NY now)  we were in the city all the time, both of my sisters have worked in the World Trade Towers at some point although not that day.  My one sister was directly across the street and my cousin was in the first tower, she was on the 23rd floor and got out OK.  My father was a construction worker and worked on those towers for YEARS he was a glazier and put the windows on the outside of the building - he took such pride in his work anyplace we went in the city we would stop to look. Seeing those building go down was devistating - the people the families and yes for me even the building!

I am a different person now and not for the better - I have feeling of forboding that something bad is going to happen, I don't like my family being away from me, and I hate to fly (although I do if necessary).

If it weren't for my depression after 9/11 I wouldn't have Harley though - my husband decided I needed a dog to help me so he gave in and let me get a Flat Coat.

So I lit a memorial candle last night for all those who died, I talked and hugged Harley today he has definately helped me today.

I'm sorry this is off-subject, but I saw a flat coated retriever for the first time in person last weekend, and I've decided they're one of the most gorgeous breeds!

Oh, those sad memories!

We were in Boston moving my middle son in to his college dorm.  I got so angry at him that I had changed my flight to go home a day earlier.  When dh found out that what I had done, he said that I couldn't leave him alone to deal with this difficult teenager....I needed to stay with him for a couple of more days.  The next morning, when we saw 'my flight' burning in the side of the World Trade Center, we were all completely sickened at what our world had become!  We had a close friend who watched the plane come in to the first tower from his office in the second tower and he just managed to escape. His life has completely changed!

God Bless all of those who were affected by the disaster five years ago!  And let us hope that it will never happen again!

God bless everyone worldwide that was and is still being affected by the complicated and devastating events pre and post 9/11.

Not to diminish the sadness that our country felt on that day, but unless we remember that 9/11 did not happen in a vacuum, and that events and policies in Israel, Lebanon, Afghanistan, and for heaven's sake, even South America precipitated and resulted from 9/11...we will never get beyond 9/11.

I certainly do not want to take this thread and turn it into a political debate, but I'm just here to represent the other side.

God (or whomever) bless...humanity.
