I can hardly even write this. My Great Dane Tisha was fine yesterday. She was running around the yard, ate dinner, etc. She even got up and played a bit this morning. Then this afternoon she collapsed. She couldnot stand and couldn't even sit. We tookd her to the vet to find she had tumors on her organs, her liver, bladder, and gallbladder.Sh e was 11years old in April, and operating was not an option. he said one of tumors had ruptured. SHe probably wouldn't even last the night. We decided to end her misery. My poor girl wagged her tail when she heard my voice but couldn't even lift her head. I don't think I have ever felt this much pain. I feel like any minute she is going to come in the room and lay her big head in my lap...

oh im so sorry, i cant imagine... Tisha was lucky to have a mother that was willing to make the best decision even though it was painfully hard, what a good person you are. we'll be here for you if you need anything.
that she wagged her tail for you even with all the pain says to me that the pain didnt matter because you were there, what a beautifull relationship.
i'll keep you in my thoughts and prayrs

That this could never be;
For emptiness and memories

And when I thought of treats and toys,
I might miss come tomorrow,
I thought of you and when I did,
My dog-heart filled with sorrow.
But then I walked through Heaven's gate,
And felt so much at home;
As God looked down and smiled at me,
From His beautiful golden throne.
He said, "This is eternity,
And now we welcome you,
Today your life on earth is past,
But here it starts anew.
I promise no tomorrow,
But today will always last;
For you see, each days's the same day,
There's no longing for the past.
Now you have been so faithful,
So trusting, loyal and true;
Though there were times you did things,
You knew you shouldn't do.
But good dogs are forgiven,

Oh Jodi, I am so sorry. :'( We never have long enough with them, but you did an incredibly loving thing for Tisha today. I'm just so sorry that it leaves you with such pain. :'( Please let us know if there is anything that we can do to help. ((hugs))

Thanks everyone. It is so hard on everyone in the house. Thorn my other dane, and Morgan my pup IW have been pacing and Morgan keeps whining. I think they know. The birds even let me sleep in today before they started their squawking. I woke up wishing it was all a bad dream...

Nothing can prepare you for such a sudden, heartbreaking loss. You are so brave, so strong, and so loving to have made the decision you did. Take comfort in knowing that Tisha's running around healthy and as happy as a lark on the other side of the bridge.

I am so very sorry for the loss of your Tisha. So sudden, I couldn't imagine how you're feeling. I realize how hard it is and my heart aches for you right now. You gave her the greatest gift by ending her pain for her when she could not...
My thoughts and prayers are with you. Know that Tisha is watching over you, and is patiently waiting for that day when you'll meet again.

I'm very sorry for your loss. We went through something similar with our Shepherd, Blaze.. It was very sudden, and very heartbreaking, but as hard as it is at least you were there until the very last, loving and caring for Tisha and she knew it and felt it... Rest her Big Dane Soul... so so sorry...

Thank you everyone. I am trying to remember the happy times I had with her. I keep reminding myself I had 11 wonderful years with her. She passed pretty quickly and didn't suffer for days/weeks etc. My parents are sort of cold when it comes to animals, and even they visited me yesterday and they both cried. They always got a kick out of how Tisha would pace and wait for me if I went in the house and she was outside or whatever. She was my velcro dog. She was with me through my divorce, being pregnant with both my kids, moving, my husband being deployed to Afganistan.... . she was the most loyal and devoted girl and I will always be thankful she was in my life. It seems like yesterday that the little black pup with the huge white paws was in my lap while I drove home from buying her.....

I am so sorry. It is so hard to lose our friends no matter what age they are. They love us unconditionall y to the end--what a gift that is. Thinking of you at this difficult time.

but there's no sore joints or old bones any more! she can jump and pounce, no pain. at least there isnt any pain for her now. *hug*
