:'(After 7 long months of trying to beat this dreaded disease,Osteosarcoma, we sadly lost our Great Pyrenees of 10 years. I cannot feel my heart or any other part of my body. He died in my arms...he was my life. I will miss him forever. We love you Woof!

No words, however prominent or supportive can take away the pain you are feeling right now.
We lost our Akita (10 year old American Akita) to SA 2.5 years ago and we have an empty place in our heart to this day!
I feel for you as you mourn the loss of your best fur friend.

Do dogs go to heaven?
My little bully passed away, no more to breathe a sound.
I held him for the last time, then entombed him in the ground.
Day and night I wept so much, in tears I thought I'd drown.
I searched my soul for comfort, but no peace therein was found.
In great despair, I hit my knees and then began to pray.
"Father will I ever see, my dog again someday?"
I raised my eyes and saw an angel standing near a gate.
I sensed an inner peace I'd never felt before that day.
The angel smiled and said to me, "Oh man of little faith!
God sees every bird that falls; He knows your bully's fate.
I have met your little dog, I saw him pass my way.
Your precious dog is still alive; he just walked through this gate.
Paradise is lovelier than you can comprehend.
No pain or grief, no tears or fears, and life will have no end.
God gave to man His only Son, to cover all his sins.
So why would God withhold from you, your pure and loving friend?”
The angel took me by the hand and said, "Now come with me.
A glimpse of paradise I'll give, to you so you can see."
Through the gate and o'er the Rainbow Bridge we did proceed.
Through green valleys filled with flowers, rolling hills and trees.
“Wow, so this is paradise!” The place was filled with joy.
I saw my bully playing there, with dogs and cats and toys.
He also had some doggie treats, and food that he enjoyed.
He'd made a lot of new friends there, including girls and boys.
Then I saw a child come near, and hug my little mate.
She said to him, "I love you so," and kissed him on the face.
The angel said, "The child just crossed the Rainbow Bridge today.
Now she needs a little friend, to love and help her play.
God’s love for her would be enough, in that make no mistake.
But in His love, He knew full well, the child would want a mate.
This is why God called your dog unto this splendid place.
God’s entrusted her with him, ‘til you pass through the gate."
I pleaded, “May I hug them both?!” The angel answered, “No!
You’d violate a sacred site, and now it’s time to go.”
He led me back across the Bridge and through the gate to home.
He left me there with new-found hope and peace within my soul.
If someone ever asks what happens to a dog that dies,
Just give a gentle smile of joy and look them in the eye.
Take their hand and comfort them and tell them not to cry.
For dogs don’t die, they simply cross a bridge to paradise.

I am so deeply and profoundly sorry for your loss. Rest in Peace, sweet Woof. Please know that we'll be here to support you...many of all to clearly remember what you're feeling right now. :'(

I am so very, very sorry! :'( :'( :'( You, Woof & your family have been in my thoughts & prayers for some time and I'll be asking for comfort for all of you now. I know how hard it was for us to lose our Halley, and I am so sorry that you are going through this loss also. My kids just asked me to tell your family how sorry they are, also. ((hugs))

Know that sweet Woof is now at peach, no more pain, no more struggle...now he will watch over you and patiently wait ;)
We lost our Rotti, Slater, to cancer (lymph nodes) in the summer of 2005. I miss him daily, I think about him daily, I will remember him ALWAYS. He too, died in my arms...and although it was devestating, we were thankful it happened on his own terms, in his own house, with his own family by his side :-*

I am so, so sorry for your loss. It hurts so badly to lose someone so close and that you love so dearly. It made me cry to hear about your loss. Because of how I know you feel and it brings back the pain of losing Tal and Ratdog. I don't think you ever get over it. I'm not even sure you ever get "through" it.
Just know that I (and apparently others here) care deeply for what you and your family are going through.

I am so sorry you lost Woof. Our friends, both 2 and 4 legged fill our lives with both joy and heartache, but seem to only take the joy with them when they go and leave the heartache behind. It is so very hard to lose our friends. Friends and family don't always understand the unique relationships we have with our companions. I know everyone in this group understands the loss of a furry friend and while we may not have exactly the same relationship you have lost, we each have our own story to tell. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.

My dear sweet friend, I have cried a thousand tears in the last 24 hours. I can not even begin to express the sadness I feel for you, Andy and the girls. Our polar bear boys are so precious and to lose them is just devastating. I know that Woof and the Tank are now hanging out at the bridge along with Quanah. You and your family has touched my heart in so many ways in the past 7 months that I can not imagine what I did before we became friends. Take comfort in knowing that the big guy is no longer in pain and that he is making Heaven a brighter place with his loving Pyrenees smile.

There aren't many things that can cause a total stranger to weep for you....but the loss of a beloved pet is one of them. I have tears on my cheeks thinking about how you must feel without your sweet Woof.
This poem is not specifically about animals, but I often think of it when someone loses a pet. I think it perfectly expresses the way our furbabies would show their undying loyalty and unconditional love by continuing to be a part of every joy in our lives even after they are gone:
Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow
I am the diamond glints on snow
I am the sunlight on ripened grain
I am the gentle autumn rain
When you awaken in morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight
I am the stars that shine at night.

First I must apologize for not posting sooner - I thought I did but sometimes when the posts are so sad I can't put two decent thoughts together.
I must tell you that Woof was such a beautiful boy (from your avatar) I'm sure from your posts that he was equally as beautful on the inside.
Loving a dog (or any other animal I guess) is such a gift but it hurts so badly when we lose them that sometimes I wonder if it is worth it...obviously it is - but sometimes I just look at Harley and want to cry because I know his time will come to quickly.
Again I am sooo sorry for your lose and my untimely response.

This man too lost his Great Pyrenees to the same type of cancer. Maybe it will be a comfort to know that someone is fighting the dreadful thing.

Skippy, I am in Texas and Dawn is in Maryland, I knew about this man and what I refer to as the cancer walk with the 2 Pyrenees. I did not know about his blog- thank you.
Dawn and her family, and Jane (marypyrs) are really truly incredible people and this one wonderful polar bear who has gone to the bridge has brought all us so close during his fight with cancer. I have cried on and off for the last 2 days because of the loss of the dear sweet Woof. I know that we cant keep them forever but to lose them over this is almost unbearable.
I a sure that everyones words have touched her heart. I just want everyone to know that Dawn is such a sweet person and a terrific loving mother and wife. Thank you for all of your kind words to her. My heart is just so breaking for her and the family.
