Hi all!
I am an experienced dog owner but recently got a darling little pup from an oops litter that was posted on Craigs List. His mama is a black lab and his papa is a Newfie. He's absolutely darling, so smart and sweet. I am so in love with him!
My son named him Shadow. His coat is curly and so handsome. His personality seems to be all newf. Not sure how big he'll get or how his head will turn out. I love both those breed, though so whatever is good.
Shadow is definitely the quickest learning pup I've ever had. He was pottying outside pretty reliably (as long as I do my part) from the first week. I got him at 6 weeks. Would have preferred him to be 8 wks w/ his mama but if I didn't take him then he would have gone to the pound. :-[ Of course, I couldn't allow that!
We have a 9 yr old female Aussie as well, and 4 cats (and two guinea hens, a chicken, two rabbits, a goat, and about 50 baby bird that will be released this summer!). The Aussie, Lily, was not amused at first. He tried to be dominant but she took that spot right back, thank-you-very-much. Now she plays with him some and is doing better.
The cats also had to show him his place, and now he respects them but also is still affectionate towards them. The cats think Lily is their mama so as long as Shadow isn't too rough, they like him just fine.
But seriously, I am so love struck with this little boy, it's incredible! He can sit, and "go crate", and he walks pretty well on lead (most of the time). He's so smart and darling.....no w if we can just get through the mouthing. I am looking forward to many years with this big lovey.

And thanks for the good info on food that Holly left on another thread. I have ordered a MUCH better food and will start him on it as soon as it gets here.

Welcome! I have 2 lab mixes: Kentucky and Derby. I had a aussie as well, Rocko, but my ex got him in the divorce. Aussies are one of my favorite breeds though.

Hi, Amy and Shadow!
I am super new here myself, but already I can tell what a wonderful group this is! I, too, recently adopted a rescue mix of Newfie/Great Pyr puppy and he is the BEST fuzzy guy EVER! I imagine you and I will be right there as they mouth everything...m y glasses were Balthazar's latest casualty! LOL
Welcome here (even though I'm so new I don't know if I can welcome others YET, lol) and I look forward to seeing pics of the adorable Shadow!

Welcome to BPO! Shadow is just absolutely ridiculously cute! We love pictures around here, so post away! This is the best site for bragging about your puppers--we're all crazy dog folks around here and never tire of talking about ours or hearing about others. ;D
