I've been looking for a harness too for Sierra.  We are acytually building a cart for her because they are so dang expensive!  Jeff is very good at that type of thing.  He wanted to rig up a harness for her too, but I'm going to purchase one specifically for carting.  If I let Jeff do it, it will be all rednecked out with twine and duct tape. ;D ;D ;D

It seems like the metal rings that keep the harness together on dog's spine might couse an issue :-\ There is no lining under them ???

Since the Siwash style harness evenly distributes the pulling weight across the chest and shoulders, the rings on the back do not typically put pressure on the spine--particularly in coated dogs.  If there is a need for padding other than sheepskin on the neck and chest straps, we have removable 'donuts' of various materials (neoprene, felting, clarino, etc) that can be placed under any of the rings.
Hope this addresses your concern!

I think there would be some pressure on the shoulder blades if the dog pulling up the hill but "donuts" would certainly solve the problem...Nice harnesses  :)

On a properly fitted harness, the first O-ring (or whatever hardware is used) should be directly in front of the shoulder blades, for just that reason! The neck straps under the sheepskin pads are adjustable for correct placement of that ring.
