Today I was walking home with Bear from a potty break. I'm used to hearing stupid lines which make no sense and the usual "Is that a bear?" blah, blah, blah. Normally I ignore them and appease them with a small smile but today I was laughing out loud! As we walked by this guy he looks at us and says, "Wow! Obviously the financial crunch isn't effecting your household." I laughed so loud and thanked him for making my day.

BHAHAHAHAHAA! Too funny! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Thats Hilarious! :D :D
That would make my day too. :)

LOL! He get's points for originality. :D

Funny. Yep that would be better than "you got a saddle for that thing" comment.
But I've seen quite a few big paws given up for just that reason. (can't afford to feed) So very sad. How on earth could you do that??

Sadly some people (quite a few it seems) see dogs as disposable. Makes me crazy. Of course, it seems some people see their kids that way too (hello, Nebraska).
My friends and I do joke about the fact that we all rushed out and got uber expensive dogs just as the economy was tanking (and I've had several people comment snidely on "how it must be nice to have a recession proof job" when they see my puppies).

Actually the only thing that is saving me is both my skin kids live on their own now. he-he. Good for my diet too!! I would love to get another dane but I do have to consider the cost of vet care and food. I seem to have alot more love than money ;)

I like to come back with sarcastic remarks to those silly comments. I can't think of one for this one.
-
That's a pretty timely comment... something you don't hear often in reference to a Newf.
I can't say we've been immediately impacted financially by the fall of the stock market (apart from retirement plans and such), but no matter how tough times might get, I don't think I could sacrifice my big paw. I would give up a car before I give up my Rosie. A house is optional too... she could live in an apartment.
-
funny you mention that...i was thinking that the other day too...about all the things I'd give up to not have to sacrifice my pup.
-
Mine is still a puppy, and the comment I get on every single walk, to my great annoyance "Oh, he's gonna be sooooo big!!"
No kidding, Sherlock! I keep saying that the next person who tells me that, I'm going to pretend I didn't know, get a panicked look on my face and say "Really? Like, how big?"
Lol, but of course I'm not that mean and I never end up doing it :-[

That was a good one!
GoofyNewfie is SO right! Every single time we take the kids out we get at least one comment about how big they're going to be. Really? You think?

next time you get that comment, scream, hand them the leash and run fast in the other direction. :) of course, come back. but the reaction would be so funny
