My Older Newf throughout his life, has occasionally let out this blood curdling howl in his sleep and doesn't wake up. I though, ok, just him, but the two pups have been doing the same thing, only a little higher pitched :D. Just wondering if any other Newf owners ever heard their dogs howl in their sleep?

LOL mine is younger than yours, but once in a while when he sleeps he'll let out a sissy bark. Next time tape it so I can see them howl!
-
I would like to tape it, but it's so random, only usually at night. Will try though.
-
Most of the Newfs I've known did this (but so did my Rottie, and so do my current pups).

Hi,
Winslow snores pretty good but I haven't heard him howl in his sleep... yet and he is 3 1/2
-
Bubba does that too. We call it the zombie dog howl. Mainly because the first time he did it we were watching the remake of Dawn of the dead. LOL
-
Yup, the Zombie howl, thats a good name for it! We had a friend stay over a few years ago,and Ben let out a howl during the night, scared the crap out of him. All three of my newfs snore like druken sailors, nice!

Bear howls every once in a while though it is usually not in his sleep. His snoring can wake the neighborhood however. ;)
-
Fargo makes Wookie noises in his sleep! No howling though. Sadie is usually very quiet. It's hard to get into forbidden things if you're noisy!
-
Rosie doesn't howl... but oh the snoring!
-
i had heard other people mention this and my 4 year old ozzy has never done this. well my new girl the other night let one of these go!! wow it was kind or creepy. so far only that once??

Barkley was a major snorer and Sheba can hold her own as well. Anna is the quietest sleeper I've ever met in a Newf though! I love Sheba's rottie song when she is stretching and waking up....love it!
