: Who's there?
: Newf March 08, 2005, 01:49:56 PM
I'm new to this, and seem to have posted my intro to the wrong place first time round, so I'll try again! So, what's with all these tests then? Let's get something interesting going .. I'll introduce myself. I live in Wales (UK) on top of a mountain with my 2 two Newfs Tansy (7) and Dylan (3). As far as the UK goes we live in the middle of nowhere, but by US standards I guess it's not that wild! Spring is well on the way here and the Newfs are enjoying lying out in the sun during the day, though it's 7.45 pm and dark now, so they're lying down here by the computer!

Hello there! I'm here and am very pleased to meet you.

So you live in the middle of nowhere with 2 fabulous Newfs huh? Well, I am in central California (US) and it is not much better here.  ;) I have on 2.5 year old male Newf named Bear. He is coming to realize that his beloved winter (40-50 degrees farenheit) is soon coming to an end. It is March and already in the high 60's-70's daily.

So, welcome to the forum. I look forward to hearing more from you and seeing your doggies.

: Re: Who's there?

NN stands for Newf Net which a popular, Newf Only forum that many of us frequent. It's been home to Michael, Bear & I for 2 years now!

We are still on dial-up, by the minute here in primitive Wales, so I can't spend much time online. I haven't come across Newf Net, though I AM on Newf-l .... a brilliant list. Any of you out there planning on visiting the UK this summer? - let me know if you need a "Newf fix" while you're here!!

Hi all ... i'm Angela, I'm from Australia and have two Newfs black female Tansy (7) and black male Beej (7) I am the list owner for 'Oznewf', and email discussion list for Newf owners. Have a look here : http://au.groups.yahoo.com/group/oznewf/  Tansy is featured on our frontpage giving our 4 mth old filly, Tammy, a kiss.

Nice site ... very slick!

I love that picture of your oz kissing your filly. Do Newfs get along well with horses?
: Re: Who's there?
: ausnewf March 10, 2005, 05:35:14 PM
The newf kissing the filly is Miss Tansy, and she is very well behaved around our horses. I have a small highland pony stud, and Tansy is with me every day while i'm working and playing with our ponies. Beej doesn't like the ponies so much, i'm sure he thinks they'll hurt me! He stays at the house and monitors over the fence with a few well placed 'woofs' if he thinks the ponies are out of line. Until last summer, we were also blessed with a big ol' Landseer boy, JJ, and he LOVED the horses. He'd even ride in the float (horse trailer) with them. They all loved him too.

Hi .... Pleased to meet you - I have never come across another Newf called Tansy before. I have a Tansy and she is also 7yrs old although she will be 8 on the 21st of this month. I asked the question about other countries! So there's the US, UK and Australia mentioned so far - pretty good. Whereabouts in Australia are you?

best wishes
Fiona

Hi eveyone, I'm Dawn from Alberta, Canada. I don't have a beautiful purebred newf like all the wonderful pictures I'm seeing here but I have a cross. Her name is Sadie and she has a bit of collie in her. Her best buddy is a mini Dachshund who acts like he's bigger than she is  ;D

Count me in.  I got my first newfie last week!!!! Her name is Sasha.  We live in the Pocono Mountains of North East, PA.  You can see lots of pictures of her and our Great Pyrenees Thunder under several different headings. under newf pics there are two- "BIG MAMA"  and "SASHA IS HERE!"  Under Great Pyrenees they are in the Pics under "THUNDER THE WONDER DOG".

I live in Southern California and have a wonderful Landseer, Cowboy!  We got him at 18 months after we lost our first Landseer last year and then lost our female five months later.  I think she just couldn't get over losing her favorite male!!  That wasn't the cause of death according to the vet, but I will always think it was a broken heart!!!  Awful, awful year!  But we do have Cowboy who is such a love and all the sweetness that you have a Newf in your life for!   He does have idiopathic epilepsy and we are trying to deal with it and fortuntely, with excellent vet support, he seems to be enjoying his life immensely!

Hello to one and all, hairy and humans!

I hope this quick e-mail finds everyone and every pup doing well and feeling great! Our family has 3 lovely Landseers!  We have two 2yr. old brother and sister, & one 9 month old brother (same Mom different Dad).  We love our pups to pieces and thoroughly enjoy  them everyday.  We are training them for pet therapy and hopefully water rescue down the Jersey shore.  They love to play with each other and get crazy with wild puppy rumpus several times a day!  We  have always had big dogs, Goldens in the past and we didn't think we could get another Golden right away after 2 of ours passed away a few years back.

I attached a few pics, one of the 3 Knuckleheads, the boys are Klondike (big boy), Kelso, (puppy) and our girl Madison.

Keep the pups happy & spoiled!

Hi, we are from NC and right now my malamute is absolutely hating this weather, we did not have any snow this year in the city I am from, so this past Sunday it snowed a little in the mountains so we drove to let her play. She absolutely loved it. Hope everyone is doing well! Right now Tonka is with daddy at obedience class, can't wait for her to get home.

Hi all,

From Pa. here.  You all have beautiful babies!  My baby is a Berner she also loves the cold and snow.  It was warm here last week and everyone coudn't believe I was running the air conditioner.  But I find it hard not to spoil her.  Zoe was 2 on April 9th.  We are having spring thunderstorms and she is having a hard time with them.  It is hard to sleep with a 100 pound dog on top of you.  If anyone has any ideas on how to calm her when the storms are going on I would greatly appreciate it.
