Where do I even start to find a trainer? Any ideas?

What kind of service dog is she going to be? Sanity is going to be my support dog, and he does alot of it on my own, so I'm training him myself. My friend is deaf and she trained her hearing dog on her own. I can give you websites, but what do you need her for?

I have a degenerative disease causing the discs in my back to deteriorate. I have a Very hard time bending over, can't pick things up, sometimes need some help getting up etc.. My husband travels for work and that often leaves me home alone with just my kiddo and the dogs, and I need some help. And I figured since I have a dog that is more than capable and we are already super bonded, it would just make sense to train her to help me. Right?

Sounds like she'll be a support dog :) Nee carries things for me, alerts me when I'm gonna black out, psuhes me to a seat and helps me back up when I do fall down. I would say because she's so young, don't start with the putting weight on her yet. Start with basic obedience, you can't do anything without that.
Here's a site I really like.

Yeah, we are just doing basic obedience training, learning tricks etc right now. But I just have no idea where to even look into things like that, so I thought maybe someone here could point me in the right direction. I want to start researching things now so I can have some sort of plan. Thanks so much for the link.

I also have a similar question, hopefully I can get some help. I'd like to have Taz become a therapy dog, and have no idea how to go about!

I often help people with disabilities to train their own service dogs. Would be glad to help you with email input, if you like. Take a look at my website, then email me if interested. Muriel w/Wholly Paws!

"Teamwork for people with disabilities" by Stewart Nordensson and Lydia Kelly
And "Teamwork II .........."

Thank you so much! I will definitely look into these further!

Both of the books I suggested are for people with disabilities to train their own service dogs, and have tons of suggestions on ways to modify the training to suit what you need in particular. I have both books, if I can help with anything or you need to know something in particular, let me know.
