: Update on Shadow
: kildeskennel December 14, 2005, 09:37:21 PM
Update on Shadow.  She is doing very well, her UTI seems to be resolving, I had her kidney function checked today just ot be sure the dehydration did not do any damage and she came out with normal results.  Had her shots, and Andy (our vet) checked her neck again.  His partner had looked her over MOnday.  Andy decided we should shave her neck just to get a good look.  What felt like internal swelling was just that but she also has a noose around her neck where the snare sliced through the skin!  so bacitracin until healed, Cali had her rabies today and ears checked she has ear mites!  I said how the heck did she get that!  Question was "do you have cats?"  well yes my daughter has 3 lovely felines.  Andy just looked at me then he kinda coughed and said "how many dogs?"  well, five now.  Well we should treat all 3 cats and all 5 dogs.  He gave me the shots, and the next round for 2 weeks later, and after all the work up on Shadow I promised him my next born child, my kidneys when I die and my gratitude!  LOL!!!!!  That was a HEFTY bill!  yeow!  But everyone will be just fine.  He showed us the ear mites with this cool microscopic machine he put in Cali's ear, all I can say it gives me the shivers thinking of ANYTHING crawling in my ear, hhhmmmm mabye I need mine checked as well~!

Yea Shadow!   My whole family heard about the Shadow miracle.
I'm glad to her she is on the mend.   That pic of her hugging your son is priceless.

Ear mites, huh?
Think I'll go clean Daisy's ears now.

They are "Watching" them APPARENTLY.  I am watching closer I bet.  It is a situation of one must call and bug the h*ll out of them to get anything done.  I am still on top of it and spreading the word.  Here is a picture of the underside of Shadow's neck.  The slice goes all the way around.  And to lighten up the mood...A few puppies playing together!

Mary,  LOL!!!  I read your post on your boy nipping your hind end, My first thought was "don't you know only your honey should be doing that!"  Second thought was lemon juice trick works well to nip that in the bud!

That littlest one, Ginger is QUITE THE CHARACTER.  She is a little spit fire.  I cannot believe Shadow made it, in fact Andy was not in when his partner looked her over, and thought it waso ne of the larger dogs.  He could not believe a pup would make it either.  We always knew she was one smart and very special girl......

Shana....I don't know if I have the heart to do the lemon juice thing.  What I do if he gets to carried away is just grab him by the side of the head and do a face to face with him and say "NO BITE"....then he realizes he pushed to hard and stops.  I know that this will eventually pass...but, I guess I have to admit it is rather endearing!  He has such a silly look on his face when he does it!!  I think you know that look!! He is still mouthing me, too.  Dan says I spoil him rotten...I admit I do, but how can one help but do that.  He performs well for me at obedience training and in the field.  I think the interaction that goes on between Mike and I is the best medicine I could ever have and he has a great deal to do with me staying healthy!!  So...spoiling him? Yes, but why not.

I have a confession to make... I tried the squirty bottle, the NO! and all sorts of other techniques to stop Flynn mouthing. He was getting really bad and pushing it. He'd grab my hand, squeeze it with his teeth and yip, looking at me as if to say "does that hurt?". It finally stopped when one day I'd had enough, so I grabbed his cheeks (the ones on his face I may add!) and bit him on the top of the muzzle till he sqeaked.

I only did it the once and he's never mouthed me since.  ;D

HEHEHEH!!!  I think so too!  I am very excited to breed her again this spring, and thinking about Aidan and Cali pups in another year or so is also very exciting!  I have been a a funk for a few weeks, didn't even have the tree up yet, and dealing with a MAJOR B__CH at work who happens to be one ladder rung above me and who is probably the most evil, deceptive person I know is making me CRAZY.  Recently weird things happening, she is out to get a few of us, (did I mention she is new hopefully soon to be gone) like office phones are unplugged , lies, missing peices of medical records that were there we are all having to document EVERYTHING dates and times, entire conversations to cover our butts, it is so sick.  That is just the tipo f the iceberg.  Steve just wants me to quit, I can go up to the reservation and work (Red Lake) get paid twice what I make and have better benefits, but I really love my patients there and my staff.  It is getting hairy though and I am so stubborn I just watch and wait and document like mad.  Anyway Steve brought int he tree this evening and boxes of decorations and ornaments and lights and I am starting to feel in the spirit of things again.  I have to keep reminding myself not to play into her drama and to remember all things come full circle, honesty in the end will be her downfall as she cannot keep track of her lies.  So sad really..
Attached are a few of the decorations I put up this evening. Far from done but I do have to work in the morning, and our naked charlie brown tree.  It is tradition we get a tree from our farm and this is the type we like, the ornaments show so much better!  We talk about each ornament as we put it up.  I have been collecting since a baby (my mom)  and have as tradition started my childrens collection they will recieve when they marry just as I did.  It is ah ealing thing and fills me with peace to do this every year with them....I will send more pic's when the tree is done!

I'm glad that Shadow is recovering well.

How's Cali?  I thought she was still pretty little yet, younger than Sapphire and Mike.  ???

Anyway, I'm sure your two pups (Shadow and Wild Thing  :P) are all over each other playing.  Does Anthony like having TWO pups to train instead of just one?  :)

Your decorations look nice.  Don't worry about your "Charlie Brown" tree.  Our's doesn't go up at all until later; after all, Christmas doesn't start until December 25th!  ;)

Sofia

P.S. We have a surprise (the good kind) for you tomorrow!  Until then, you won't hear a peep about it out of me!  :-X

shana.....I used to work with someone like that at work...she made life miserable.  I finally had to close in my little circle around me to just my boys and I and figure out what was the best thing for me.  The hospital had spent 8.000.00 on training me and said I had to give them 2 years at least, but made me sign no contract.  Well, when this b...ch like you say was making life difficult for all of us I had to make a decision that was right for us.  I had lost almost 20 lbs in stress, etc.  Well, when the hospital where I work now made me an decent offer to come and work for them I decided to take it much to the chagrin of the administrator,,,but I seriously think he understood.  We have patients wherever we go, shana, and they all need us.  It is a good thing.  Good luck...those kind of people are very scary.    mary

OK, have been gone like, 2 weeks and I can't believe that you found her!  It's just  beyond a miracle--God absolutely got out of the tub for your baby.

She looks fabulous.  And her little blonde partner in crime there is a heartbreaker.
