This solved the Newfoundland pronounciation issue for me as well. For years I couldn't get a straight answer from breeders or showers, so I finally asked a friend from Canada how to pronounce that word. He told me the correct pronounciation of Newfoundland is "New-fun-LAND".  It's not "New-fin-lind" or "New-FOUND-lin" or "Newfun-lund".  Check out this link, pretty informative, super handsome Newf Pics (check out the picture of Jydekompagniet`s Apple-Jack "Jaki" - what an amazing looking Newf!), and it has the pronunciation too:

*sigh* I'm just to lazy to do all that.
So, a Leonberger is a "Leee Oh" to me.
A Newfoundland is a "New-fee"
and a Great Pyreneese is a "Peer"
Sometimes I just wish dog breed names were as easy as to say as the "Pug"!
tee hee.

I've never heard it said that way before. I wonder which is correct.

that is what i thought it was....i get that a lot from people wondering how to say Dachshund. some say Dash hound. some say a weird combination of dox hund (which is right) and dash hound (wrong) some just give up and call them weanie dogs, because they dont know how to say it!
