Good Luck Dixie ;D
-
Melissa,
This is going to be so much fun. With the dogs that are entered Dixie is going to have to win over three male dogs to get points. So we are going to need some GIRL POWER, for Dixie.
I hope we will have time to check out the dog park in the area. Let me know if you want to meet and go over together or just meet at the fair grounds.
Lisa

Dixie is getting her bath today, now if I can just keep her clean for 7 days. We have our first show on Tuesday. I will take lots of photos and keep you guys posted.
Lisa

Knock 'em dead Dixie! Good luck keeping her clean. Kiah gets a bath and ten minutes later she's dirty again. AHHH!!
-
She is all clean now, want to take bets on how long it will last ;)
Lisa
-
I wish! It is wicked cold here in NY this week! Would love to come meet you, your dogs and your weather!

It is going to be in the 70's this week. Wish you could join us.

We are off to the show.  ;D ;D ;D ;D
I'm so excited for you! Keep us posted.

We made it back. Dixie did a good job but it was just not her day to win points. She took winner in 12-18 months old bitch class and winner bitch, but did not take the best of breed or best of winners she needed to get points. We do have three nice ribbons and another go at it the rest of the week. I will post photos as soon as I download. I did not take Sugar Bear and Dixie was not happy to not have her brother with her.
Lisa
-
Im sorry those Judges were blind and she didnt win any points. But she will always be a winner to us at BPO. And we all know that is what really matters ;)
-
Thanks guys you make me feel so good. These are the ribbons for today.
-
These are from today. I really did not get any good photos.
The last one is of the best of breed dog. Ok guys you need to send up some "girl power" for the reast of the week.
Lisa
-
She is so pretty :) I really do miss showing and hoping one day i can get myself a "show"dog so i can show again. Have you ever shown her yourself?
-
Dixie is perfect! I'm sure she'll do great the rest of the week. Sending lots of GIRL POWER! Go get em Dixie!!!
-
Maybe she was a bit off her stride missing her bro? She looks awesome to me! Here's to hoping that she'll catch her stride and wow the judges in the next days! Go Dixie, you beautiful young lady! :-*
-
Dixie just needed her brother cheering her on from the sidelines!! :) ...How did she handle herself today?...Did she seem more familiar with the ring?...Just you wait!...That "little" girl is going places!...Mark my words!...Dixie, you are always a winner to me!...Good luck on your upcoming shows!!...This is so exciting!...Sometimes I wish I hadn't had Pippin "snipped!
-
Oh, I think she was the Best in Show. Guess it will just take the best judge out their to notice that ;). This show will not allow unentered dogs, so I do think she misses her big brother. She did not show as well as she did last time, but today is another day. She loves going to the vendor booths. I took her out to potty and play this morning and she wanted to get in the SUV and go. So I know she is having a good time, and that is what it is all about.

Hey guys, Dixie and I had a great day today. She was much more at ease in the ring. The breed count was not enough for point in breed. She did go Best of Breed and into the working group. She was not pulled out for group but she looked great. The judge told me she needs more neck, not sure how to do that ??? I think once she gets to know this handler a little more she will hold her head just a little higher.
These are todays ribbons.
-
Here are a few photos from today:
-
Yay Dixie!!! :)
-
WOW!!! She looks GREAT! Quite enough 'neck' for me! (whatever THAT means!!)
You go, sweet one!!!
-
She might fill out more in the neck as she gets older. Do you know if he was referring to more coat or more substance under the coat? Bummer to have gotten BOB and not have enough points yet! Been there, done that. With a duck though, not a dog ;)
One thing I noticed with the ducks is that it is really hard to win really big with a young one. I suspect that would be true in dogs as well. Despite the fact that they should evalute the animal partly based on age and how far along they should be developed for their age, the fact remains is that they really have a vision for the mature dog and a young one will rarely have all they need to compete against older ones. Esp with a Pyr where they mature so slowly, if she's this good now, she's got great potential to keep improving.
-
More neck probably means more length to the neck I wouldn't worry about it as a puppy she has a lot more growing to do. I once had a judge say that to me on a bitch that later placed at the nationals at 6 months old. Tia has a beautiful neck just not at 6 months old.
I agree - it is very hard to finish a large breed puppy from the puppy group I usually show mine a few times at that age and then bring them back out when they mature more at around 15-18 months. But this is great training for when she becomes more competitive or when she is in a larger group where there are points
-
Congratulation s! I really hope I can make one of her shows this summer. Keep me posted on where she'll be and especially if you get closer to Louisiana.
Jeanne

You guys are so great to have as a support group. We are off for today. If all the dogs show up and she is able to pull off best of winners it would be for 3 points. However one of the other ladies is know for pulling out dogs at the last second. I'll post when we get back.
Lisa
-
Ok, I may need a bail fund set up if I kill this lady. You guess it the lady with the dogs to make it a major for best of breed was outside of the ring and did not bring a single dog in. So no points >:( Dixie showed her little bottom off. I am not sure if she will show up for the next three days. I will just have to make the two hour drive and only to find out that there is not even a shot at points. It's a good think Dixie and I are enjoying everything else about the show.
So it was three more ribbons but no point for today.

Lisa
Is this common in the show world?...Is it just accepted because it sounds like it is unfair to the other dogs?...How does this work & why?...Thanks!
-
sounds to me she is threatened by the perfection that is Dixie!
At least Dixie is getting some great experience and exposure.
-
Go get 'em sugar! Hopefully I'll see you tomorrow. What are the times again for this weekend?
-
Saturday - 10:55 Ring 3
Sunday - 12:55 Ring 3
See ya at the show ;D

Why does this happen?
-
Usually it happens cause something happened to one of the dogs - could be lame, not in top condition, blew coat whatever. Could be ring conflicts so you have to decide who gets shown - not uncommon if you have different breeds. The most common reason is there are not enough points If you have a dog that ONLY needs a major and a major doesn't exist for some reason why pay to have your dog shown? Best of Breed doesn't get a major unless there is a major in one of the sexes.
Often if you ask a handler/owner will bring a dog in just to hold the point but not always. There have been many a time where I pulled a dog cause there wasn't a major and that's all I needed. It costs me $100 every time my dog goes in to the ring- NOT including travel expenses. To go to a full week circuit like this it would cost $1000 per dog to show. Adds up really quick. And if you have a dog with 15 single points it makes no sense to get a bunch more.
-
Ty for expaling Pat!...My dogs are just cuddle bug couch potatoes (though I am sure Pippin could have been a contender ;D) Â so I was interested in knowing how it worked!
-
Actually, I think the reason doesn't enter her dogs is because she won't win. She enters more than one dog so that at least one of hers will get points, but she doesn't even bathe, brush, or groom her dogs. In the mobile show, the judges hand was filthy after examining her dogs. She won't enter if she knows she can't win. I think it's more of a spite thing, because I could be wrong, but I believe she's already paid the entrance fee.
-
You got it Brandon that is just what she does. Today she did bring on dog in ring but it was not enought for a point. But we have more ribbons ;D
Lisa
-
So, how did Saturday go? I'm sorry I couldn't make it over there. I missed you guys terribly. Sending you really good vibes today. Get that nasty woman's address...I'll go knife her tires then she can't even go to the next show... ;D
-
She did not even show up at the show yesterday. So you don't have to worry about the tires, she will not show anyway.
Dixie looked very good yesterday, but I did not have anyone to take her into group so we did not stay. Her handler has a Black Russian Terries to take in.
Six days of show with the ups and downs will kill you. The sad part is that there has not been a way for her to win any points. Guess I have a lot to learn about this game call "dog shows".
Lisa
-
Be sure to let us know how today went. The offer still stands though.... ;D
-
Dixie looks great! Sorry to hear about the points. Very annoying! We're sending good thoughts your way! :)
-
Awww....she looks beautiful!

Dog Show Update:
Well Dixie did great on her last day of the dog show. The other lady did not show up again. But no other ribbons will every mean as much as these do !!!!Â
Just after leaving the show I did a very dumb thing and tried to get something out of my eye with one hand and drive with the other. Well I went off on the edge of the road and over corrected to get back on and flipped my SUV. Dixie and I are both fine just a little sore, a bump on my head a few little cuts and that is about it. It was a few moments before some one came by to help us get out. When I crawled to the back to find Dixie she licked my face like she never has before. I can not tell you what it was like to see that she was ok and not dead. For a few seconds during the flip I just knew that it was over for me and my Dixie. If you can believe it she does not have even any missing fur. She was sleeping up against the driver seat and she was on top of the soft side crate, so I think some how that blocked her from being throws around. I just can not believe how luck and bless we are.Â
Melissa, thanks for posting the photos. I needed to see them this morning.

Hubby came and got me. Some really great people helped us get out to the SUV. There was a gas leak so they got us out and away from it. Looks like I will have to have a new ride. Don't think I am up to driving today, that was one long ride, and I don't even like roller coasters! ;) I just am so happy we are both ok.
Lisa
-
Oh Lisa! I am so glad to hear that both you and Dixie are alright. When I read that I had a small panic attack. Please let us know if there is anything you need.
-
Thanks guys. I am still not sure how we made it out of it as good as we did. I start to cry ever time I think about Dixie, and what almost happened. It's funny but the" wish I had said" thing really do go racing in your mind at a time like that. I was very lucky to have such nice people stop and help get us out before the fire truck got there.
Lisa
-
((((((((Lisa & Dixie))))))))...OMG!...I am SO happy you are both alright!...I can't even imagine how scared you both must have been...Please be more careful!...We love you guys!
-
Heavens to Pete! Glad to hear you and Dixie are ok. One of my great fears is what might happen to my puppers if they are in the car and I get into an accident. I see these little car seats for dogs and think it's lovely for the 5 to 40 lb little dog but what do you do with these big dogs in a car? So glad your incident was not worse. The car can be replaced even if it isn't convenient. You and Dixie can not. Sigh of relief. I think I'd be shaking for days.
-
I am still shaking, Dixie is ready to take on the world. She is one tough little cookie. Sugar Bear as been really good and careful when playing with her. I think he know that something happened.
Lisa
-
I am so glad that is was only us. It would have killed me if I had hurt anyone. I know that Sugar Bear would not have taken it as well as Dixie. She was such a sweet little doll licking Mommy's face. I will only be driving my golf cart for awhile.
Lisa
-
Dixie will do fine going for rides again, I am sure, but she might have one condition.. she gets a helmet :)
Glad you guys are ok, that in itself is very good news :)
-
I keep thinking there has to be some big reason, that we are ok.
Lisa
-
Dixie is having dream when she sleeps today. I guess she is reliving it the same way I am. I just can't beleive I did that to my little girl. :'(
-
You didn't mean for it to happen so don't feel so guilty...she doesn't blame you at all. Remember that dogs live in the moment and that it could have happened to anyone. I'm glad your both okay and I hope that everyone learns from your experience. I know I'm definitely going to be more careful when the dogs are with me.
-
LOL, boy did I need that photo! You guys are sooooooooooooo oo great!
Lisa

OMG! I'm so glad you and Dixie are okay. She looks great in that helmet! ;)
-
I still find myself shaking from time to time. Kinda of hard to get the what if's out of your head.
Lisa
-
Ii'm sending you big hugs sweetie... And I have a present for you and Dix...
-
OMG Lisa - reading that post my heart was pounding outta my chest. SO GLAD to hear both you and Dixie are ok. Holy man that must of scared the crap outta you. And what a sweetie your Dixie is, licking your face. Probably saying "it's ok Mommy, I know it wasn't your fault"... ;)
I'm just relieved both of you are ok. My goodness, that must have shook you up harsh. :-*
By the way, Dixie looked abolutely stunning in all the photos! :)
-
Oh yes it was a rough ride. I hate tight places, so not being able to get us out at first kind of messed me up. I had the door cracked and was screaming for help. Lots of good that will do when cars are going by ??? Then I starting blowing the horn and turned on the flashers. That is how a car knew someone was in the car. They called 911 and helped up both get out and away from the car since there was gas leaking.
I have always loved my little girl, but now we have an even closer bond. There is just something different in the way she looks at me. It's like "hey Mommy you sure your ok, don't worry I'm here". Now if I can just stop reliving it over and over.
Lisa

It doesn't surprise me at all that the two of you are closer now. What an amazing dog Dixie is to stay calm through an ordeal like that (she must have been raised well) ;) I hope that your mind will let you calm down a bit and stop re-living it. I could imagine it is scary looking back.
I am just SO glad you guys are ok. Someone was watching over you I think! :)
-
Oh, I think my Dad that I lost last year had his arms around us both.
Lisa
-
Hi Lisa, congrats for Dixie. Even if she didn't win those points, i'm sure she will, next time ;)
I also lost my dad last year in july, so i can really understand your pain ...
-
OMG-
I missed these posts last night... :o
Lisa-
I am so glad that you & Dixie are ok!
Having been in my fair share of accidents, I know how shook up you feel.
As my grandfather always told me, "That's why they call them 'accidents' - if you meant for them to happen, they would call them something else. A car is replaceable & you, on the other hand, are not." I love that man! ::)
Big hugs & warm thoughts from Sam & me... :-*
-k.

Oh, I think my Dad that I lost last year had his arms around us both.
Lisa
I'm sorry about your Dad Lisa, my condolences...
I sure do think he was with both of you though, that's a given! ;)
-
I can't believe I missed all this! I'm so sorry!! What a scary thing to have happen! I know how you must be worried about your Dixie but she's an amazing and strong girl. I literally was looking at your thread about needing a new car and I thought....Dix ie was at a dog show..did she eat the car?? (the picture of the car didn't show up....) Now I'm ashamed of my evil thought!
I'm so glad you are both okay, if shaken!
-
LOL, thats ok. For once I wish she had ate the car.
Lisa
-
Oh wow, how scary for you! I'm so glad that no one was seriously hurt.
On a happier note.......... ...good job Dixie for winning all those ribbons! You'll win points at the next show for sure.
-
Oh my gosh! I'm so glad that you are both okay! How scary. :o
Dixie looked great in the show! :)
-
Oh thanks guys, the show was lots of fun.
