:D  tooooo funny....like what are we thinking???????  that we need some space on the couch and/or bed?????? sheeeeesh....w hen I sometimes go find lucy on my bed..looking very comfy I might add....and yes - head on pillow if you don't mind!  I stand in doorway and say "ahem.."  she MAY lift her head and look at me as if to say "yes??? how may I help you?"  then flops her head down again....like its all too much effort for her....so I say "lucy.."  and she looks at me from one eye.....and then ever so slowly crawls off as if to say "okaaaaaaaaaay. ....just this once..if I MUST"....she so has a sense of humour.... :P

:DI absolutely had to reply to this.. when lucy joy ( a gsd ) was younger BUT full grown...(and  yes - weighs about the same as I do!) she was always VERY interested in skunks...uhuh. ...not a big issue cos I always paid attention and she was not allowed to chase them...BUT...o ne sunday night late we were out for our last walk and went around a corner and there..lucy came almost nose to nose with a skunk against a fence.....UGH!!!  well it was late - I was tired and not paying attention BUT....wanted the skunk to escape unharmed.. lucy IS a herding dog....and I tried to keep her steady and allow the skunk room to escape ...BUT Lucy got me good..I landed on the ground..(on my thumb) and got sprayed by the skunk for my efforts...sooo oo I managed to get lucy under control...got up off the ground and get back home... Stinky clothes,  smashed thumb (inoperable cos too many small pieces..) and lucy looking at me as if to say "what did I do?"  I WAS mad( and in shock and pain) but ended up laughing cos she was doing what herders do - she wanted to herd the darn thing - I went to bed clutching ice pack - couldnt handle ER that night.and the house reeking of skunk smell. And one more adventure to add to the story book!  Gotta love her..And no - we have chased no more skunks...altho we DO see lots...still.. ::)

Chewing you say?????? Been there - done that...was recomended bitter apple...(you can get it at the pet store). tried spraying it on everything ( I am a non crate type!)  and guess what? Lucy Joy didnt mind that at all thank you very much.....soooo o it came down to choices for me...

I put everything I really really cared about either in a closet or waaaaay up high...and waited out the chewing phase...Yep..s he loved my books...and the couch....but I chose to see it as an adventure....  I didnt know what went into the framework, the building of a couch.  I do now - and hey I had finished with those textbooks too...BUT..if only she would clean up the mess afterwards...i nstead.... she would be soooo happy to see me..."look mum...see how clever I was.."  Riiiiiiiight.. ...BUT:  "this too shall pass"....Repeat after me..... ::)

yes - I too have been a property manager.and I used to get soooooo mad....tenants would be moving out - I'd go to do pre move out inspectiuon and find scared and abandoned kitties crouched in an empty corner.... When I would challenge the "humans"??? "Oh we cant take animals where we are moving to.."  See me get mad or what.  >:(And the number of tenants who swore their furbabies were 'family' to just abandon them when it was inconvenient.. .and then.and then..those tenants who would expect me to show (and rent) out their apartments with cat *** and litter and smell from front door to back door.. Seen it all....and never ceases to amaze me.. Also saw in the paper here the other day...a dog was seized by the SPCA after neighbours called to say this big dog chained by an anvil to a rubber maid container..... what is wrong with us?????  Sorry - in a venting mood today as to how we treat our babies - who DO choose us and ask for so little in return......si gh.....and no lucy joy and me haven't found anywhere yet - but we keep the faith...off to hug my girllll...she IS a huggie baby..... :D

:)  Had to comment....mos t of the furries who have ever owned me were rescue (including the current bratdog who was born in the pound!)and yes..she KNOWS she is adored..just a little...rofl) ...IF I still had the room I would take them all in.....and yes...that IS a future goal...makes me mad and soooooo sad what people do to the precious furries...one little terrier I got from the pound was terrified of loud noises.would run in a closet whenever she was scared.. BUT she DID learn to play and trust me and my daughter (she hated little boys - that told me a story!) and adored our shep/husky...I won't even begin to tell you stories of all the cats who made it to our house over the years....such loves...the expression "if they could only talk"????  Their behaviour tells it all..God bless them...but I was humbled to be with our terrier(and all the rest of our furry family) right to the end.....with love and trust...they deserve no less....good on you ALL for rescuing each and every one of them.. We do what we can..... :-*
