OMG too funny - all true

I want to say good luck with getting your very own Dane.  I have  Danes - Willow and Radar.  Willow I bought from a breeder who was ok.  Willow has been great and very healthy.  We got her when she was 10 weeks old.  I wanted a puppy for the very same reasons.  My 2nd Dane, Radar (that is his big head in my avatar) - he was sort of a rescue.  He was a breeder return.  I found him off of craigslist.  He was 8 mos old, deaf, about 20 lbs underweight, had mange, and had been fed puppy food which caused him to grow very fast.  But now he is a good weight, the mange is gone, and his joints all look really great.  He is the sweetest baby ever - And I just love him!!!  I do think that having and loving a Dane is a life changing experience.  I don't think that I will ever be able not to have one.  So good luck.  I wish you the best!

General Board for Big Dogs with Big Paws / Fear of Dremel
« on: April 06, 2007, 03:13:06 am »
Any suggestions in how to get my 2 big chicken Danes to not be afraid of the dremel?  I have tried treats, just keeping it out and around all of the time.  They act like it is something awful and I haven't even turned it on yet.  Their nails are so long and the vet won't trim them because they act so bad!!!  So any suggestions would be great.

Santa brought me a really nice Dremel with all kinds of attachments.  I want to do the dogs nails - So any instructions would be awesome.  It won't hurt them will it?  Kind of nervous about using it but they really both need it bad.

OMG I have been so busy wih the holidays.  I did get a cute pic of everyone in fron of the tree.  Everything is going great.  Polar just fit in perfect.  Like he was just suppose to be here.  I took him to the vet and he checked out ok.  He has a spot of Demodex Mange on his back that we are treating with ointment and it seems to be helping.  He has put weight on and is such a big goofy boy.  And he is really good - no real bad habits.  All is good!

Thank you everyone for all of your well wishes.  Yes, He is Deaf.  The skittishness is much better today.  We are just taking it easy.  He really is a good boy and he and Willow have done nothing but run and wrestle all day.  They are very cute but destructive!!

Willow has hers and I am just not into having anything done just to have it done.  I also don't crop ears or bob tails.  Just my thing.  I don't think they HAVE to be removed.

Well I have to go out and run some errands.  I am crating Polar and letting the mojos out of my room.  At least they can be in the same room together.  Hopefully that will help.  So far so good.  Now they have to settle the "King of the Couch issue."
