Anything Non-Dog Related / Re: NDR-having your tonsils removed
« on: December 03, 2007, 11:32:51 pm »
Thanks guys. I know she'll be fine I'm just a worry wart. She has had so many problems with asthma, sleep apnea, and losing weight that I will be glad for her to get them out. She doesn't eat much now because of her having a hard time swallowing. She had her adnoids out in September and did great but i've heard the tonsils are much worse than the adnoids. Jenn I know what Brandon is going through. I have sleep apnea as well and the slightest cold swells my throat up. I go in every couple months because I will wake up with my throat swollen shut and they just give me steroids and send me home. Its frustrating. I'll let you guys know how she does when I get home sometime thursday.

Hi everyone,
I was just curious if any of you have advice for having your tonsils removed. My 2 yr old daughter Makaylee is having hers removed tomorrow morning and I am VERY nervous about it. Everything I have been told is that its a really painful surgery. I know that it will help her in the long run because of her asthma and HUGE tonsils, but does anyone have advice as to how I can help her with the pain and be comfortable during the recovery?
She is having surgery first thing in the morning and will be staying over night in the hospital. Please any advice is appreciated. Also keep her in your thoughts and prayers tomorrow. Thanks

Great Dane Pictures / Re: Brody's Puppy

I haven't heard from anyone else. I have sent emails out and haven't gotten any replies. Things around here have been busy but good. My daughter has been in and out of the hospital with asthma. She had surgery in September and is having surgery again on December 5th. Things have been crazy with one kid starting school, my daughters health being poor and then my son having a LOT of behavior problems. They keep me busy. Other than that things are good.

Great Dane Pictures / Brody's Puppy
« on: November 18, 2007, 06:08:21 am »
Hi everyone
I just got an email from one of the lady's that took one of Brody's puppies. She took Lilly. She didn't say in her email what she named her. Here is a picture of Lilly as a puppy and a somewhat recent picture of Lilly now. She said the pictures were taken in August. The puppies will be 1 yr old on Dec 31. She promised to take some pics this week for me. She is absolutely beautiful though. The only picture I could find on this computer was Lilly at 1wk old. :)Enjoy

My mom lives in Poway. She is in Clairemont Mesa right now. I don't know if her house is still there or not. I just got off the phone with her and she seemed in good spirits. All we can do is pray. Its all a waiting game. MY heart goes out to all of those involved.

Just a quick update. My family is safe in a small hotel room with 1 bed, 2 adults, 2 kids, 3 dogs and 2 cats. They have no idea if they still have a house but its really not looking good. I have a REALLY BAD feeling they are going to lose everything.  :'( I am very thankful they got out when they did and are safe. My mom is still uneasy because there is a fire burning North, South and East of their hotel right now. Lets continue to keep these families and the state in prayer

I know the strength of the prayers from BPO have touched many so I'm asking for your prayers and thoughts today. There are wild fires burning all over Southern California. My mom, dad and little brother were asked to evacuate this morning. As of 8:30am this morning they were packed and leaving their home. They can't see where the fire is, they don't know how close they are to them. Planes and helicopters are unable to fly due to the strong winds. Please keep my family and all the other people in Southern California being effected by the fire in your thoughts and prayers.

She is absolutely beautiful! Tell hubby not to worry and hang in there. My daughter would not let her dad hold her at all from the day she came home from the hospital. She wouldn't even take a bottle from him. Now at almost 2 she is daddy's little girl. Is always asking about daddy, and wanting to be with him. It might seem "funny" although mean that she doesn't like her daddy right now, but it got hard and frustrating for me. I did foster care and when my daughter was born had 5 kids! It killed me that my husband couldn't even hold the baby or watch her so I could take a shower. How do you like her baby seat that shes in? My mom got me one for my birthday and just 2 days after I got it my foster baby left and I haven't done foster care since so I've never really gotten to use it. I wanted it so bad for my last foster baby. Just got it to late. Hopefully I'll get to use is again soon. Enjoy her shes precious

Its been a very long time since I've posted. Every now and then I stop in and read a couple posts. Thought I would take a quick second to tell everyone HI. Congrats to those that are pregnant which looks like just about EVERYONE on this board. I am still having a VERY hard time dealing with the loss of Brody and having to rehome Moose. I still cry for them and our house feels empty without them. I still have my lab mix Robin. I've got 2 small paws that I'll probably register at tiny tracks when I get the time. In the last 2 months my son has started kindergarten, my son has had eye surgery, my son has also turned 5! The doctors think my 2 1/2 yr old has Autism and ADHD so we are going for lots of testing. He is a HANDFUL and there are times where I don't know how I'm going to deal with him. Thank god my 19 yr old sister moved in with me and is a great help. My daughter has recently been diagnosed with sleep apnea. She stops breathing in her sleep which is really scary, but she just had surgery last week to get her adnoids removed. Once she hits 30 lbs they need to take her tonsils out too. Hopefully it will help her. My husband is getting ready to be deployed again. He leaves the begining of the year. As of right now he will only be home for a total of 5 months next year  :-\ Kind of hard to deal with but its his job. I'll try to post again soon. But things have been really crazy. I miss all of you

Kelly- You're doing a great job. I wanted to let you know about the ultrasounds being wrong too. They did a LOT of ultrasounds during my pregnancy because I was high risk, went into labor (which they were able to stop) at 28 weeks. Also both my brother and sister have cerebral palsy. They told me a week before I was induced that my daughter was weighing around 8.5 - 9.5 lbs. and that I should expect her to be roughly 10lbs. She was a whole 6lbs 13oz. Also about the baby being big. My mom is 5'3 and has 4 kids. I was 8lbs 9oz. My sisters were 10lbs 3oz and 11lbs 5oz. My mom had gestational diabetes with my sisters that went undetected so they were HUGE babies. But she didn't have a csection with either one of them. When my brother was born 10 yrs after my youngest sister he was only 6lbs 12oz and we always joked that she only had to push once and he came flying out. Good luck and I pray for a healthy baby and an easy delivery for you.

I'm not to far from there. I'll have to see if hubby is going to be up to doing something like that. He doesn't get home until June 8th from Kuwait so we'll see what he says. :)

Well you all know that my husband is up for cut from the Air Force. I just got a call from my husband who is in Kuwait...he says I just wanted to ask you to do me a favor. I'm thinking its after 11pm and you want me to do something for you. He says I need you to gather up all my work uniforms. I said what for? do you need me to send them to you? Did they extend your leave? He says no...I need to get captain rank sewn on them by October. He didn't get cut!!! He still has a job!! I'm so excited that now I can't sleep. Finally something has gone right!! Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers. I can definately kiss a load of stress good bye.

Thanks again for all the advice. Luckily neither one of my sons has gotten to the stage where they break everything or destroy stuff. I have found certain things that work with my 4 yr old but I swear absolutely NOTHING works with Jay. Richard goes to preschool which helps a lot. I have also found that he DOES NOT want his dad to find out that he has had bad behavior. So I give him 3 warnings and then he has to sit down and "write" a letter to his dad telling him why he has had bad behavior. The kid can't write yet, and you definately can't read what he is writing but I normally only have to give him the 1st warning and his behavior changes completely. Hey whatever works right?! I would love the link for the chore chart. I am ready to try absolutely anything at this point. I can get my 1 yr old daughter to clean up after herself, get herself dressed, put her shoes on, take her shoes off...pretty much anything I ask her to do she will try to do or do...wish it was that easy with Jay. Thanks again for all the advice i really appreciate it.

Thanks for the advice. Steffanie your Aiden sounds EXACTLY like my Jay. Its absolutely frustrating. Like you I have tried leaving him I left my sister in the house and made him stay on the front porch while I loaded my other 2 kids up and drove around the block maybe a 2 minute drive. I pulled back to the house to find him sitting on the front porch playing in the rocks. My sister said he never moved and never cried. So we spanked his but put him in his carseat and bought the other kids a treat while at the store. I have also tried taking toys away, time outs, popping him one, making him wear his clothes funny. Its really funny when he ends up with both his legs in one pant hole and then keeps getting mad at me because he can't walk and as soon as he stands up he falls over. Its just frustrating when a 15 minute routine turns into a 2 hr ordeal. I am NEVER on time to things, in fact since my husband left I will go 2 weeks without leaving the house except to take my oldest to preschool 3 days a week. Only because I don't enjoy the 2 hr battles to get 1 kid ready. I always take my stroller with me because I don't think its fair to reward bad behavior so when we go outside to play or go to the park he gets to sit in the stroller and watch everyone play. Just a frustrating time. Thanks everyone for letting me vent
