Message from a fellow "leach line stopper upper"

SORRY  :(   :-\  You don't wanna know what I flushed!

Hey!  Since your luck is starting to turn tides, maybe a quick house/car cleaning (purse cleaning) will turn up the cashola!   ;D

I saw the cutest GD/Lab pups at the local shelter yesterday.  They are adorable, and will be HUGE!  Their paws are enormous...and I'm not so sure about the Lab part!  They are in Visalia, California.

They really, really need to come home with YOU!!!!!

Does he have a favorite blanket (of his or yours)??  If so, try wraping his head/neck in it just below his ears.  I don't know for sure if it will work, but it does for birds and small animals. It also helps if you can do this with the help of someone.  Speak kindly but firm to him.  You can wrap part of it around his muzzle if you need to to keep him from nipping.  Good luck!

I use the colored round horse feeders (about 10qt size).  The bowls are like $2.49 a piece at the feed store, and I put them on those round red stone step pavers ( .99cents).  I bought a couple each time they grew and viola!  Dog feeders!  And cheap!

Food Discussion & Information / Re: Question about feeding raw...
« on: March 31, 2007, 03:55:39 am »
That was exactly what I was thinking.  It must taste better than dried pellets!  I would be excited to get yummy food too.  They aren't fighting over meals now.  Just jumping up and down like pogo sticks when it's mealtime!!!  That makes ME happy, not worried.  It's just that the hubby worries.

When I was younger I had a dog who killed one of my chickens, then one of my rabbits, and then anything that would provide chase.  Not good.  But the difference is that my dogs I have now are being fed, not hunting.

Food Discussion & Information / Question about feeding raw...
« on: March 30, 2007, 06:19:34 pm »
Im new to feeding raw, and was wondering:  Hubby has noticed that my dogs are more excited about eating a raw meal than kibble.  Has anyone who feeds raw noticed this?  It is a bad sign?  I think its normal.  I think he's worried it will lead to aggression.  Opinions?

Well it was a bit cold to actually swim.  I didn't even bother touching the water cause I didn't want to freeze.  I think she may be a swimmer though!  That would be fun.  I can't wait to take them to the beach now!!!

...wake up with a dog so close to me that she could almost BE me.  No really.  NOT!

This morning Bella as usual comes to occupy the warm spot left when "someone" leaves the bed.  This time it was lucky me who got to stay behind.  Then Miss Ellie comes in to say "goodmorning, can we snuggle?"  She literally sits on me, and rubs her head all over mine!  She gets so close I ask my husband "Could she BE any closer?"  His reply, "Maybe if she was PART of you!"  (Notice Bella covering her eyes from the blinding flash in the second one!)

Ellie got to go to one of our local lakes..."Lake Success."  It's hilarious because I've been to other lakes and this is more like a puddle.  However, Ellie had a great time.  No Fear of the water...well maybe the waves, and the stationary rock in the water.  She surely wanted to taste the ducks floating around.  She was so tense...she IS an intense girl!  She sure enjoyed getting muddy paws and the fishy smell!!!   :P  (sorry about the hubby butt shot)

Great Dane Discussions / Re: Who all has a rescued Great Dane?
« on: March 23, 2007, 10:45:26 am »
Ellie is a "Rescued - Rescue"...hmmm.   She was at a rescue in SoCal.  She was adopted from there, then they decided they didn't want her, and gave to her to a lady who gave her to me (who knows her story before the rescue--couldn't have been too peachy).  She's been bounced around so many times it's very heartbreaking.  She is so loveable, and she has to be cheek to cheek to cuddle (and gives real hang her head over your shoulder hugs).  She climbs in bed right between me and my hubby and wont budge.  She gives super sloppy kisses and is totally an in your face kind of dog.  For the life of me, I can't figure out why nobody she's met so far wouldn't want to keep her.  Her only fault is that she jumps like a pogo stick and she does get aggressive upon meeting other poochies.  But hey, she's gorgous and sweeeeeeeeeeee eeeeet beyond belief other than that.

UPDATE!!!!

Ellie has finally gotten used to those furry little critters called cats!  She and Bella still fur fight...but over stupid stuff.  They're just being sisters at this point.  She is still stressed I can tell, but she is calming down a bit.  When we go out front I could walk her without a leash she is so stuck to me.  She still wants to eat the smaller furry critter in a cage--so we're super careful to only let "said critter" out when she is in the backyard.  She'd also like to "taste" the bird I think.  It's funny, when I had my parrot, nobody wanted to taste him...somethin g about being pecked on the nose at warp speed!  What a good deterrent!!!  Thanks again all for your advice...You were right.   ;D
