Pedigree dogs have become increasingly stupid as they are now bred for their looks, not their brains, according to new research

Great Dane Discussions / Is My Dane pup odd? suggestions
« on: June 30, 2008, 09:16:29 pm »
Hi,

My female Dane pup Luna (just turned one)is interesting. I adopted her from her 1st owners at about 4 months old. They got her at 10ish weeks. They had an 8 month old male Dane pup that was 120 at 8 months. The male was very aggressively playful and constantly pounced on Luna. She began to get very fearful/withdrawn. They said she was not like this at first. They decided to give her up so as not to "ruin" her personality.

When I brought her home she immediately chose my 1 1/2 (altered) year old male Pitt to play with & ignores my then 2 1/2 year old Dane (altered) for play. She does prefer to sleep/cuddle with my male Dane.
She has never played with people just comes to me for hugs. She was always very calm as a puppy and didn't do zoomies or other silly puppy stuff. She is my velcro dog and follows me into the bathroom & squeezes under my computer desk. After a year she is still afraid of my husband. She is afraid of everything including the new dog pillow I got for her crate. Although she is not afraid of Riley the Pitt who is the alpha.

Any ideas on how to make her less fearful? Other suggestions?  Thanks

Hi,

I have posted several times but I usually just lurk. I wanted to let you know I live in San Antonio (transplant from Chicago) and would be happy to share any local info you would like.

Not sure how I can send you my email address but if you let me know how I'll send it to you.

BTW I have 2 Danes & a Pitty boy

Hi I adopted 2 black Danes. A 3 year old Male who weighs in at 130 and a female who will turn 8 months tomorrow. She weighs 85 and is rather thin looking. Luna is about 29" at the shoulder (she was wiggly when I measured her). My male has a massive head and her's is small in comparison.

Is Luna a shrimp?

Luna is the absolute sweetest puppy on the planet, always wanting a hug!

Here is my crew:

General Board for Big Dogs with Big Paws / strange fur loss

My year old Pit Bull has lost fur around his mouth. Whatever the cause my two year old Dane is unaffected. What could cause this?

Well we are home. Axel is a sweet heart. The people I got him from only had him a month, they got him from some girl who had him in an apatment and kept him crated all the time. The 2nd owners kept him outside in the Texas heat! He has a rash all around his neck causing his hair to fall out in small patches. Any thoughts? They were putting Listerine on it? Also he was neutered a couple orf months ago but no one bothered to have the staples removed.

Riley my pittie pup is freaking out. Following Axel constantly and licking his face & jumping on him.

No Pictures yet, we recently moved and some of the parts of the dig. camera are packed.

Axel is a huge lap dog :)

This Axel contacted me after I posted a "Great Dane Wanted" ad on craigslist. I am in Texas. We are driving 1 1/2 hours to get him. I can't wait.

Hi, I have been lurking for a couple months. Now I have found a Great Dane to Adopt! His name is Axel and he is 19 months old. I also have a 6 mo. old pit bull pup named Riley. Riley is amazingly smart.
