Rottweiler Discussions / Only rottie owners understand
« on: August 03, 2008, 06:58:24 pm »
I am back!  I first signed up here over a year ago to find a group of people that understand the loss of your pets. I found companionship and ultamatly another Rottweiler.Rio n.

Rion was my special Rottie rescue after losing 2 rotties (12.5 and 8.5 years) I lost them in 6 months of each other. I was shattered. So along came Rion my blind rottweiler that filled the hole in my heart. I taught Rion to answer to voice commands, he taught me patience. I taught him to trust again and that the world is not all bad, he paid me back in kisses and endless love. I lost Rion after only 1 year of having him suddenly to Cancer. He was only 3 years old. I was shattered once again. 3 rotties in 18 months!!!

I tried again and now rescued yet another disposed of Rottweiler. He was found runnning the streets of Michigan and had used all his time up in the shelter and was going to be gassed. I took on my King who is named now KONA. He is in my pic and he is very majestic and looks/acts like a king. Kona has also allowed me into his guarded life and filled my heart.

I learned from the loss of my Rion that these rescued dogs are a blessing and ones that should be treasured. I miss my Rion the lion and will be eternally grateful for extending his heart and trust after he had such a rough start to life. He passed being loved and was treated like the gem he was- its what I hold onto to help with his sudden and devastating loss.

I have another dog a lab- my faithful Rugby, I love her to bits but life is not complete without coming home to a waggin nub.

Pic #1 is Rion my blind little sugar
Pic #2 is Kona my nlt so little King

Hi i have been Hiatus for a bit. Its been a long year, I lost my blind Rescued Rottweiler "Rion" to Cancer. I only had him 1 year from a shelter, he wasn't even three.

Since then I rescued another Rottweiler Jackson from euthanasia as he needed double ACL surgery and the family did not want to pay for it. Got him a home.

THEN adopted my new Rottweiler KONA i'll post pictures soon. And managed to start this new blog and will be launching some fun stuff in the fall. I'll keep you all posted. Check aout my blog and I'll keep checking all of yours.

Rottweiler Pictures / Re: Rise and Shine with a rottie

I have a little black lab that is all of 55 lbs that loves nothing more to take my freshly made bed and ball it into a pile of blankets and sleep right on top! She is a little monkey like that. Rion can't get up on the bed in case he falls off (going blind) and thank got cause that lump (90lbs) would hog the whole bed.

General Board for Big Dogs with Big Paws / Re: Dog Urine Killing Grass
« on: April 03, 2007, 01:00:10 pm »
Someone told me a long time ago to feed your dog a daily tab of vitamin C and it changes the PH of the urine to prevent grass burning. I don't know how true this is but since starting it years ago we always had green grass- at one time we had 6 dogs in our house (Rugby was the smallest). I feed my guys one chewable Vitamin C tab a day, the grass stays green, their immune systems are strong, and they love the extra treat!

Sorry I got a little mixed up and I kept wondering why OEM was throughout her message??? (just finished a bad set of day shifts).
But Old English mastiff = rottweiler- Rottweilers originally stem from mastiff lines. Can you tell i'm just trying to find a sweetheart a home????
Sorry on my mix up.

Sorry to hear things fell through.
I'm not sure how far you are from Michigan but I just got the sweetest Rottweiler from them and there is another that they are looking to adopt out. Arlene from the Rottie Rescue is a peach and she is true to her word. If not a dane how about a sweetheart Rottweiler named BEHR?

Take a look

FAQs about puppies / Re: And along came RION
« on: March 30, 2007, 09:32:17 am »
I'm in Kitchener Ontario. Little bit far from Alberta :)

Rion is going blind due to cataracts and also the vet said that his optic nerve or cranial nerve (one of the two) is not sending the messages to his brain. I will get him further tested but he seems to be coping well. The vets thinks b/c he is so calm and adapts very quickly that he has been this way since very early on in his life. Any suggestions from other blind dog owners is always welcome!

FAQs about puppies / And along came RION

Hello all, I have been a little awol. Rugby and I have been hunting for a big brother and finally I go the call last Friday. With help from the Michigan Rottweiler Rescue (arlene) I found one.  I drove 5 hours down to Michigan to adopt an 18 month old stray that no one would touch b/c he was going blind!

Well I walked around the corner of the Shelter and there is saw the most gorgeous gentle beast I have laid eyes on.In a 1/2 second i knew that I wanted him. RION (new name) came home with me to Canada where he has made himself at home. We have been adjusting to his bumping into things and Rugby is the best lil helper and helps guide him around.

Here a few pics of the new man in mine and Rugby's life!

and yes i am that geeky proud new mom!
