German Shepherd Pictures / well, I promised booty pictures..
« on: December 02, 2007, 02:32:08 am »
some of ya'll may remember that I posted months ago asking about booties for Heidi. I also said I would post a picture.  Unfortunately I have not had time yet to find a matching scarf, but behold...the booty!

(she actually was really good about them, shocked the heck out of me.  Stood still and held her feet up patiently while I put em' on and everything.  What a good girl ;D)

Oh, I already ordered a Dyson.  I have never had a real vacuum before..the one I just clogged up was one of those little handheld ones, so it's amazing I got away with it this long. I figured I might as well shell out now and hopefully not have to worry about it again for awhile.  I never thought I would be this excited about getting a vacuum.

thanks, Holly!  Is it better to feed the small bites even for big dogs?  (not that Heidi is anywhere near as ginormous as your pooches ;D)

Food Discussion & Information / Innova Evo feeders, I have a question
« on: September 22, 2007, 01:04:52 pm »
Can anyone tell me how the size of the kibble for Evo compares to regular Innova, Science Diet, Or Iams? (the last two are just comparison, i am not feeding her those!)  I am considering switching Heidi from regular Innova to Evo, and want to get an idea how the kibble will work in the buster cube..it may sound silly, but it is VERY important that it be compatible!! ;D

General Board for Big Dogs with Big Paws / when i win the lottery...
« on: September 16, 2007, 01:13:18 am »
aside from buying a house with a huge yard and acquiring approximately a bajillion more dogs, lol..
i have a dream...it's called "rent a yard.".  for people who live in urban areas..and are not so much fond of dealing with the dog park scenario if that is even in their area...i will just buy land, make it purty and safe for the pooches...and then people can rent it for an hour or whatever a day to run their dogs.  sorry i know this is kind of a pointless post but i was just thinking about this when i took Heidi to my parent's house yesterday.  They live on the outskirts of town and have a huge yard.. I live in the middle of town and have a tiny(although very securely fenced) yard.  Wouldn't this be super if there was a safe fenced place where you could take your dog and not have to always worry that they were going to hump the wrong pooch and get on somebody's bad side?  Nothing against dog parks at all, they're great, but when I watch Heidi running after her ball at my parents I always think..damn... what do the people who don't have awesome parents with big yards do?

General Board for Big Dogs with Big Paws / planning for winter
« on: August 25, 2007, 07:35:47 pm »
ok, maybe this a wierd question, and it's (hopefully) months early, but i'm a little bit worried about winter.  Heidi and I take A LOT of walks, and winter in Iowa lasts about half the year, during which they put salt and what have you all over the place.  I know it's bad for their paws, but i'm not sure how bad or what to do about it.  I have heard of doggie booties, are those a good idea? or should you just try to wash their paws off really well when they come back in?  i realize this sounds like a pointless question given that most of the country is either flooded or in a drought right now, but where darling poochie's exercise is concerned I like to have all my bases covered!  any advice would be appreciated.  thanks!

wow you have had a crappy time of it.  the yard thing is annoying, i guess the morons that let their dogs run loose in the city have ruined it for folks like you who could provide an acceptable alternative.
i am also mystified about why you would chop off a dogs tail in the first place, let alone what being pregnant might have to do with it.
