White and bright Christmas and strong wings to all your dreams in 2009!

Well, there are few things to think about.

Selfish thing :) - I adore puppies, and the special time rising them. They grow so fast, and by having two at the same time you are rushing more, working harder and probably will have not much time just to enjoy puppies growing.

More selfish thing - lifespan of saints are quite short, and when they will get older you will realise that you have two large dogs with very expensive vet bills and if they die short time apart - it means double heartbreaking sorrows.

Training two youngsters at the same time would be quite a disaster as well. Imagine - your husband at office, and you must take both, let's say at 10 months, to vet. Do you have enough strenght to do that? Two happy bouncing pups over 100 lbs each?

What I would reccomend: getting one (that male pup in your case) raise him, train him, and when he is about 3, get another pup.

Anything Non-Dog Related / So happy today
« on: December 14, 2008, 05:38:48 am »
Just wanted to share our joy. In August this girl arrived to our house – starved, all bones and ribs,

And with nasty inflamed open saddle rub

It was a long way, and today she dressed saddle for the first time again – look at her!

She is our first large rescue victory, and I’m sooo happy about her! She looks like she is looking for next showjumping season already! So easy to ride, so proud and happy to carry DH arround – like feather!

But, in other hand, yesterday arrived 2 more rescues, mares, and one is already pregnant. And just this afternoon – mute swan lady with broken leg. But anyway – it is worth to try.

One was found dead, and other 3 went away - so now ornitologists are waiting news from Germany or Poland where they are supposed to stay for the winter.

I had been promised get info as well on MY swans - and ornitologists had booked our place for the next summer if there will be new orphans :)

And one youngster is sitting in my barn at present - minor injuries, will be released soon. Swans are such a great pets, really. If next week there will be a Mute swan cygnet orphaned, i will probably consider bout raising it for myself (ornitologists are not interested in Mute Swans, they are common, like weeds :) )

Me? :D :D For the first time I was on TV when I was 5 yo... It's easy if you like such activities, but see - I don't. So I'm not famous.
When there is a reason to talk about animals, about rescue, then I'm ready to appear and talk - on magazines or TV - if somebody will follow just because they will get silly idea that rescuing is a posh thing - great, at least somebody from shelter will get a home.

But other than that I'm a homesitting bookworm - that is what I like the best :D Reading and writing.

And to whom who is interested - part 2

I do not know, is it right place to post this here, but if somebody is interested, there is the first part of our cygnet story on our State television.

This is the nature program, and the 2nd episode, about our swans is from time 8:25. First two minutes is about the place where cygnets were found and kept at the beginning, and then their yourney to us. At the end, time 13 sometning you can see Peter riding Shella for few seconds and at the end when cygnets are put in the new pen in our garden, there is Grace, our rescue St. Bernard, looking at cygnets. So if you would like like to watch, it is here

http://www.boms.lv/Video.aspx?VID=9628
Scroll the recording from left to right to time 8:25, and there is our episode.
At least then you will know that we are real
(next 2 weeks will be furher episodes of the cygnet story, and how they were released in wildlife in September)

They are about 4 weeks old fosters - picked up as strays.

Girl: Viva (after V Westwood :) )

Boy 1: Patrick Ginger Prada

Boy 2: Silver Big Dolche

(sorry for poor pictures, here is rainy so must take indoor pictures only)

Grace just loves them and seems that they do love her - they climb over her paws and dive in under her chest. I caught last one diving in. She is somehow taking care of them - cleaning them all over, and trying to care about them in all ways. My boys just know one duty - lick their bums clean :)
