Medical Conditions & Diseases / bumps after spay surgery?
« on: October 27, 2008, 01:17:43 pm »
My little Jasmin had her stitches removed about 2 weeks ago. Yesterday I noticed that at the start of the stitch line a lump had formed. Doesn't look pussy or anything but it is about the size of a kidney bean and a dark color. Could this be seuture reaction or does that really exist?

My Berner is just over 6 months old and her breath is horrendous at times!! My Pyr has never had funky breath but my pup is pretty bad. No teeth problems that I am aware of and she eats good food. Any suggestions/ideas?

Thank you for the expertise. Very good info. I will have to determine if there are certain time the panting seems worse. I sort of thought at first it was excitement but I am going to pay close attention to the patterns.

Maybe Jasmin will still have a growth spurt. She is filling in well I just find her really short??
One thing I also notice is she pants a LOT. Like unless she is sleeping...she is panting? Common? - My Pyr isn't like this at all.

If you ave a Costco or something like that near you, they have their own brand for very cheap that is actually quite good.

I was going to suggest the same thing if cost is an issue. I have heard good things about the costco food and it is at a reasonable price. Far superior than grocery store kibble.
My pyr is 2.5years and about 110 lbs. He is an outside dog as well and I feed him a grain free food called Evo. He eats half the amount he would of a regular kibble and his poop is also half the size which is nice for me  ;D
on a side note, trust any pyr owner....they all roll in the mud - SUV riders or not  ;) ha ha

hmm ok well weight wise she seems on target. She is just over 5 months and about 46lbs. She is filling out in her body but doesn't seem to be growing in her height. Maybe she will just be a late bloomer as far as height? she is looking a little stunted right now  ;)

We had the opportunity to see the mom and she was about the size of a large lab. Apparently the dad was bigger.

Hey Berner owners.... as the proud owner of my first berner I am noticing some major differences from my pyr which is cool to experience. One of the things I am curious about is the size. I know they are large breeds - not as large as the pyr's however my girl is MUCH smaller at 5 months than my pyr...like half the size.
Is this typical? what is the average growth rate of the berners? What size are some of the other berner babies out there that are on this site?
thanks.

Food Discussion & Information / lovin the Evo p**
« on: August 29, 2008, 05:36:58 pm »
Thanks everyone for the Evo recommendation s.. I have noticed such a difference in Marley's stool! it is amazing. He must be retaining much more from his food than he was on the Canidae because his elimination is half!
I have him on 4 cups and a half can of the Evo wet food - he's lovin it and so am I ;) ;) So worth the extra $$

Thanks for the great advice.

Yes you are exaclty right. He is a picky eater so I don't mind giving him extra food. Just I was reading a lot about Evo and it is high in protein so perhaps I should include some other "toppings" to give him more food but not over due it on the high protein. With the Evo I read frequently that the portion would decrease compared to other foods so I was just curious what others experienced. I pretty much feed Marley all I can however with the grain free I know I have to watch that I don't over due it on the protein levels....and as I said he is picky so I don't usually have a lot of options outside of the kibble he eats.
