Giant Schnauzer Discussions / Leash, Biting, jumping
« on: June 14, 2008, 06:40:01 pm »
My 11 week old GS puppy is really having a bad spell.  he's biting me pretty hard through my pants on some walks, refusing to stop biting the leash, jumping to nip and generally not behaving real well. I;m really concerned about this and am not sure what to do.  I think this is beyond saying ouch to him.  I need to put an end to this right now before he gets any bigger. He pulls on his leash as well and has not mastered walking well at this stage.  I'm in a puppy class right now. What should I do?  I'm feeling like a failure with him already.

Just brought home my 9 week old Giant Schanuzer, Fritz.  He is really excelling with some basic commands already.
Few questions for the other GS owners out there:
1-How shall I handle nipping at the pant legs when we're out on walks and in general?  I have a 15 month old daughter and while he's never alone with her, I don't want him to get too comfortable with it.
2-He doesn't seem to signal too much, or very consistently when he needs to go out. Is he still really young for that?

Thanks!
Lisa

Just got my GS pup and he's really wonderful.
I'm loking for tips from anyone regarding crate training and any other advice other Giant Schnauzer owners may have.  I'ver heard a variety of things in regards to how long it might take to crate train and housebreak this breed so info is much appreciated.
thanks,
Lisa
