Newfoundland Discussions / Water Dog training update
« on: June 06, 2009, 06:49:42 am »
Sadie went to her first official day of WD training and it went very well.  Thought you guys might want to check out a couple of videos to see what she's learning to do.

Sadie starts her official water training tomorrow with our breed club. She can do most of the required skills at home (finally picked up a boat cushion and brought it to Daddy today).  No idea how she'll do in the training environment though.  This isn't like training at our obedience club!

Water training will be our most ambitious project to date and we could use some good BPO vibes to help us get started!

Just a little something to inspire you!  (might want to turn your volume off first though!)

Mr Fargo (now 10 months old and still intact) has suddenly decided that he's the man and that he no longer has to do what he's told and it's really wearing thin!  It's not horrible but still bad enough that I took him back to a basic obedience class.  Frankly, that's been a disaster.  He won't sit.  He lies down and won't get up.  He basically drags along through the class like he's on a death march.

I know that some of this behavior is to be expected due to his age but I need advice on keeping him in line until his hormones level out.

We took Ursa out for her first real swim today.  She wasn't as enthusiastic as the Newfs and needed a little more support but she did it!  I just love this dog.  There's nothing that she won't try!

You do realize that "rare white Newf" thing is a joke right?

Hold me up Mom while I get the hang of this:

Told you a Pyr could do anything a Newf can do!!

Fargo's motto is WooHoo Water!!!

I don't need no stinkin' bumper!

Daddy doesn't need saving:

Are you sure about that Daddy??

Sounds like Lincoln is ready to start water training!  He'd be a natural.

I agree - we need pictures of your crew!
