Helpful Groups & Dogs in Need / Big Jim Dies 10/11
« on: October 08, 2007, 12:25:40 pm »
I looked at this Rott yesterday on petfinder, I was just looking around. For some reason I got back on today and seen that his headline had been changed.
I begged and begged my husband to let me go get him, he is beautiful! But apparently has some aggression towards cats. I hate to see him put down. I am gonna see if I can't talk him into letting me foster him.

General Board for Big Dogs with Big Paws / Curious

Wasn't sure where to post this. I just starting volunteering in an animal rescue. Most of the dogs are very shy. Their are trainers there, but walking and playing is left up to us volunteers. I was wondering about some ideas to instill confidence, gain trust and handle the timid dogs better.

Mixed Breed Discussion / help please

Ok, if you don't know the story, it is in the thread under this one called pups.
This puppy is driving me crazy...she is such a doll, she just wants to be near me, under my feet, on my feet, inside, outside, in the shower.
Not the problem.
I think she may have a little too much wild in her. She only wants to be outside (in the snow, in the sun, in the rain - it doesn't matter). She nips about everything, not normal puppy nipping, because it wasn't too long ago that I did this all with Felony. I mean she will yip and bite you in the face when you pick her up. She bites at my kids and Fel walks around with this puppy hanging off of her neck skin. She is just mean! It didn't take me that long to get my rott used to her cage, but this puppy, after 2 weeks, she will sit in her cage and howl for 1/2 an hour to an hour at night. I guess that the other 2 guys that took puppies are having a really hard time too...
My husband thinks that she needs some type of farm area, where she can run and be outside... he is concerned with the biting and lawsuits in the future.
I just don't know what to do... any suggestions? Tips? Advice? Things to look for to know whether or not I should keep her or she should go?

Mixed Breed Discussion / pups
« on: February 20, 2007, 11:01:34 am »
Hi everyone... was thinking about you guys... basically because I am a magnet for abused and/or puppymill dogs.
If you remember Felony's story, she was given to me at 6 weeks old with an ambilical hernia. Well, the night before last I got a phone call from one of my hubby's techs, saying that this guy had some rott pups and was gonna drown them all the next morning. So, I asked how and he said 6 weeks (Ok, before anyone jumps me, I asked so that I knew whether or not to pick up some formula). So, my another tech goes up and picks up these 5 pups and my husband tells me to go look at them. Well, another tech had taken one. That left 2 girls and 2 boys. The guy who picked them up decided that he was gonna keep both boys...so I go over and take a look at the girls..first off they are not full rott, which is probably why the guy was gonna kill them. Well, I decided to take them both anyone and goodness are they a handful. These poor little creatures, they do not have the normal puppy belly, they drank and entire bowl of water when I got them home here and I am surprised that they held it all down. They were litteraly shaking when I fed them and the one bit me when I put my hand near her bowl, that and if you make a sudden movement around them they jump. I feel so bad. Well, I am posting pics of them...the guy said that the mother was a rott and the father was half boxer/half wolf. My sister-in-law is going to take one off of my hands. But I am gonna go ahead and keep the other, I feel so bad for them. (that and puppies make my heart melt!) I think some people out there are just totally ignorant and disgusting (and the reason that I took both girls was so I could get them fixed). What do you guys think about their looks?

Rottweiler Discussions / need advice
« on: September 17, 2006, 05:46:42 am »
Hey guys! Long time no hear... I am still getting settled into the new house and all - I had an issue today. Felony (who now weighs 110lbs) snapped at a little girl, now I have been good about socializing her all her life (her training is very good, she normally listens to me) and people come in and out of my house... the only person I have ever had an issue with was my brother-in-law, for some reason Felony just doesn't like him. But he is/was the only one. Today my daughter's friend came over and she has been over here before, and felony snapped at her and chased after her barking, luckily the little girl got over the gate before Felony got there.
I can't risk having her doing this to kids... any advice on what my next step is?

Long time, no see. Hi everyone! I moved and am just about settled, so I was going around catching up on all of my old boards. I having somewhat of a tough time with Fel here at the new house, she seems very confused and unsure. But we are managing... so, I just wanted to say hi.

These pics aren't real great, I hadn't set my white balance before I ran out the door. But this is Felony's first venture into the snow. I felt so bad it took her a while to figure out how to 'do her thing' out there without the cold blasting her up the behind.  :D

Speaking of chewing Lins... This is my furniture! I don't know how you guys deter these turds from this. It isn't like Fel doesn't have toys lying all over the house. I saved the best for last too! This proves that everything gets better with age, even furniture (that was my grandmothers antique chair). The reason it looks all red is because after the bitter spray failed, the hubby soaked it down with hot sauce. All four of the legs look like that. I am gonna sit down in it one of these days and its just gonna collapse on me!
