Saint Bernard General Discussions / Starla chews her pawz...????
« on: June 05, 2006, 05:05:51 pm »
 ??? ??? ???

We're not really worried but wondered if any of your guys Saints have a habbit of lightly chewing on their front paws... its almost like a person who bites their nials, she'll just look at you with a paw in her mouth... if you call her or distract her, she forgets about the paw and goes on with her daily routine, but when shes board or something, she eats her paw!!!  Its actually pretty funny now that I'm writing it!!!

Anyways, here are a few up to date photos of our "little" starla who's exactly 10 months today and weighs about 85 lbs.

She's been going to school for almost 4 months and is getting very smart, but we still have our days where shes the boss and nothing can change that!!!

Saint Bernard General Discussions / Too young for school?
« on: February 23, 2006, 12:24:54 pm »
Greetings to all... I have a quick questions for all you veteran St. owners...  Starla has started doggie school (not puppy school) and does well for about 30-40 mins of the 1 hour class, but then just go puppy mode on me (she's just over 6 months old)...rolling on her back, chewing on the leash, watching everyone with hopes of playing...

Have any of you have great success with training a Saint?? and what age did you start them in that classes... shes a wacko and I think she needs "ridelin"!!!  she has major ADD... ::)(hahaha)

please let me know your take in this ;)  ;D ;D ;D

either way we are learning great things, but just wanted to know if its a bit too soon to really hit the school thing hard???

Saint Bernard General Discussions / Starla is really sick... any ideas?
« on: January 12, 2006, 07:36:50 pm »
I know bummer news, she has spent the last 2 days at the vet getting any and all treatment for something they are not sure what she has... its not parvo... we had the shots and they did the test and said it came back negitive.  Her blood work look good as far the the white cells, but her fever is anywhere between (102:normal - to 104.7) and back and forth... she has a real hard time standing up and walking and seems to be real disorentated.  She has not eated much food in the past 2 days and has been hooked to an I.V all day long just to keep her hydrated.  She will get up to go potty, both #'s 1 & 2, but then straight back to where she was sleeping and crashes to the floor and will stay there for hours - even at the vet.  We bring her home and night and are scared to death that something will happen that we can't deal with.  They are testing for any tick desiese and have looked at her blood cells and think that may be it.. but only THINK... the VET has been calling the UC Davis pet center for help and they are not sure either...

Anyone ever heard of this or suggest anything... we are freaking out!

she hasn't gotten into anything odd, or i see no signs of any chewed up trees/bushes, or wood aorund the house???  we are stumped and I think the VET is too... which is the worse part!!!

Saint Bernard General Discussions / Anyone have a JUMPY Saint problem?
« on: January 04, 2006, 03:57:54 pm »
Little ((or should i say not so little anymore)) STARLA is almost out of the biting stage and has filtered all that NO BITE concentration to getting alittle JUMPY.  She tries to stand up on her rear legs to say hello and show me her paw prints on my nice white shirts...

Can anyone share a little trick to break that habbit... I say DOWN and push her off and sometime she listens and other times she thinks its a GAME then i'm in real trouble...!!! ;D ;D

Besides thats shes doing well for 5 months old... she just learned that if you dig a small hole in the rain, it'll fill up with water then when you try to dig in it again... its turns to MUD!!!!  YIIIIPPPPEEEE for us!!!  nah - we would want it any other way! :P :P

These are a few action shots!!! she loves WINTER!!!!

Her biting has aready gotten better with a little sqirt-gun action and/or some no-bite spray straight to the chops and firm NO!  The first time I felt really bad, but the biting stopped... now I just keep it in my back pocket and wait... muhhhahahah

Here are a few photos of her at age 6 weeks and older - shes now 15 weeks and like 4 times the size... I swear i can see her grow!!!

You guys are all so great and so many cute PUPS!

Saint Bernard General Discussions / How many pairs of pants can I rip????
« on: November 22, 2005, 08:54:48 pm »
Hello... My name is STARLA, I'm a St Bernard, just under 15 weeks old and loving life at a full 40 lbs! ;D  I have a big yard to run around in and a full reign on a good size house too, but i just love to follow my loving parents around and drag myself on there pant legs untill I get tossed in the Garage!  They aways try to give me toys or chew thing or ropes or anything to disctract me but that only works for about 2 mins... then i realize I'm not nipping at a pant leg and go after the closest one in sight...

Ice works for me... and pig ears, but at this point I can rip a pair of jean in like 2 chomps...  ???

Any suggestions...  My loving parents are thinking of getting a good squirt gun and trying that for a bit, but they just think i'm too cute to squirt in the FACE...
