Discussions & Information on Grooming / Really course tail and bum region fur.....HELP!

I need some grooming tips for my Newf Finnegan.  The fur on his tail and bum (pantaloons?) region is really course and nearly impossible to get a brush or comb through, even a wide tooth comb.  Anyone have and tips on a tool or product that might work??

I am so excited to get to chat with other Newfie folks and drool over other Newfie pics!

Here is a pic of my Newf Finnegan.  He is 4.5 years old and is the typical Newf through and through, well except he doesn't like to swim.  LOL  ;D
