I have missed seeing updates on everyone's Saints. We have had quite a bit happen in the past few years. Kids graduated, we now have an adorable 15 month old grandson, & have added another kitty to our mix. We did, however, lose our sweet boy Simon in November. He just laid down in his favorite place by the back porch and "went to sleep". Of course we all have grieved (we still are) and that includes our lady Heidi Belle. For the first couple of months she would go looking for him every morning when I let her out. It broke my heart every time I watched her do it. She has lessened that behavior but she has developed nervous itching since then and is "eating" herself raw. We had hoped it would go away, but it hasn't. She has raw patches on her butt & knees and she just won't leave them alone. We've tried new foods, new shampoos, everything...t he vet says it's simply nerves. Simon was the alpha dog and they grew up together. I know she misses him dearly. If anyone has any ideas, I would appreciate it. Thanks!

I've been gone for awhile and couldn't remember the email or password I used to sign us up! We have moved a few times since I last logged on. This last move we moved to NC and I found my old notebook with all of my old passwords. YAY! I hope everyone is doing well. We are well.

Simon just celebrated his 4th birthday and Heidi celebrated her 3rd in February. Unfortunately we had to give Nicholas away. (I hate deed restriction communities now)

We are now on 23 acres in the mountains of NC though and I can have whatever animals I want! Which is a good thing, we had a momma border collie and her 4 pups wander up a month after we moved in so we ended up fostering, finding homes for, and eventually keeping one of the pups (Dixie). She's definitely a "mutt" border collie (more mutt than border collie). Actually I think she's part beagle too. But she's a sweetie and absolutely loves Simon and Heidi.

I'll try to get some recent pics uploaded soon. My computer at home is toast so I can only do it at work now. I'm so glad to be back!

Saint Bernard Pictures / Hi everyone!!! Been MIA but I'm back!!!
« on: December 31, 2006, 04:53:17 pm »
I hope everyone's holidays went well. I haven't been able to get to the computer that much with all three of the kids home. I have to fight for time with them. It's been at least a month since I posted it feels like. Simon, Heidi, and Nicholas are doing great. They all had a great Christmas. Especially when they found my husband's stocking with his beef jerky in it. haha. We're still tryng to straighten out Simon's stomach from that one. We woke up to no less than 10 giant sized land mines (in my living room no less). Poor Scott...he walked out into he** that morning. LOL. But everyone is doing good. Nicholas is growing by leaps and bounds and Heidi has finally calmed down and has become the sweetest one of all of them. I'll be on more this week I'm sure, with the kids going back to school. Talk to you guys later!!! Here are some pics from my MIA time.

For the last three days they have escaped from my yard and I've had to chase them down the street. They are usually very well behaved and go in when I say "inside". Well, they apparantly think I need exercise or something because now when I say it, they head for the street and keep sniffing the trees, the ditch and everything else they can.

Thank goodness I live on a dirt road that hardly anyone comes down. Although my neighbors have been getting an earful of me at 6:30 in the morning yelling "Simon and Heidi!!! Get your butts back here!". The only thing that gets them back in the yard is to find my kitty, Little Miss, put her on the porch steps and hollar "Where's the kitty?" And poor Little Miss just gives me the nasty "Thanks mom" look as she's used for bait.

The only thing I can think of for their behavior is that my husband is out of town. He works out of town every weekend but he's been gone longer than usual. So, I just had to post a little rant while my "little Saints" are sleeping peacefully under my feet. Hopefully tomorrow they will be back to their lazy selves.  ;)

So here are some that I thought looked good as B&W. They are after the dogs had a hard play session.

Since I have three kids ages 9-12 of course we have a lot of kids that come over. After the initial greeting, the kids see that they aren't a pack of Cujos and everyone's fine.

My neighbors have one girl about 13 and two boys about 9 and 10. When they come over, Simon is fine with the girl and the 10 year old boy. But if the 9 year old comes over, the hair on Simon's back immediately raises. Simon has even nipped him on the back of the leg. It didn't break skin, but I have never seen him act that way with a child. He is submissive to all of my kids and my husband and I. But if that kid comes around, he totally ignores all of us and heads straight for him. Since the nipping thing, I have told the little boy that he can't come in our yard if the dogs are out (which I don't mind because he's a brat). BTW Heidi doesn't like him either. She just avoids him and goes over by my kids when he comes in the yard.

I just want to know if any of you have had your dogs act this way with a particular person. I haven't seen this boy be mean to the dogs. And I am always out with the dogs if there are kids outside. I'm just perplexed. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I haven't posted any this week, I've had too much homework and an essay exam. So no time for fun on the internet...jus t research. But I did get some great pics of the dogs playing. Nicholas just blends right in. He and Heidi are buddies now. She didn't play with him the first few days we had him but now they just cut loose. Simon now has turned into the mature gentleman. He just looks at them like he's shaking his head.

Hi everyone. Just wanted to share some pics of Nicholas's homecoming. Everything went great and Simon is so concerned about Nicholas. It's so sweet.

We weren't supposed to get him until next week, but the breeder asked if we wanted him this week. Of course, we said yes! It'll be either Fri. or Sat. She's just got to set up the flight. We can't wait!

He threw up everything he ate this afternoon. Now tonight, he threw up again but it was just clear liquid. He's been sleeping all this evening. He has also been "stretching" his neck out tonight a few times. This morning he was fine...playing ...eating. I just haven't seen him act like this before. He was on a soft diet this week post neuter, but the vet said he could be put back on his regular diet by this weekend. Anyone have any suggestions? I don't want to get alarmed but the thing I don't like is him craneing his neck.
