Medical Conditions & Diseases / Prayers for Sis's Mal
« on: November 30, 2008, 04:50:38 pm »
Any prayers you can spare would be appreciated.  My Sister's Mal, Guinness, had a grand mal siezure last night, and she got her arm in the way and got bit.  Luckily, my parents are out in Aurora CO visiting her and took her to the ER for stitches. Then, when got home, Guinness had another siezure, so they took him to the doggy ER at Alameda East, and he is still there tonight.  They think they have him stabalized now, but have him on valium, because he keeps pulling out the catheters.  He hasn't had a seizure since 2am this morning, so they are planning on sending him home tomorrow after the Neurologist sees him.  He'll have a prescription for Phenylbarbital to take daily.  Hopefully, this will control his seizures (he's had a few before, but nothing as bad as this).

Poor big guy, when the vet's called her tonight, they told her, he is "Very needy", and she could hear him in the background.  Apparently, everytime the Vet Tech leaves him, he starts howling/yowling.  He is definitely a Mama's boy :-)

General Board for Big Dogs with Big Paws / Need to VENT~!
« on: October 02, 2007, 04:43:33 pm »
First let me preface with 2 things:
1) My DH is a General Contractor who stores his equipment/materials at our house in the side yard.
2) My dogs stay in the same side yard during the day when I'm at work (they have a nice shelter with their beds in it).

So, DH calls me on my cell a while ago, and says, "I guess I left the side gate open this morning.  I got home and the dogs are gone."  At that point I'm freaking out and tell him I'm coming home to look for them. We live near a middle school, and the parents drive like idiots in the mornings, so I'm afraid one got hit.  And, the highway is only a few blocks away~!  Then he tells me to wait, that he hasn't looked in the other part of the yard, maybe one of my neighbors saw them and put them in through that gate.  I'm halfway out the door at work by then.  Luckily when he looked there, both Woody and Maple were loose in that part of the yard (probably harrassing my tortoises).

I was so relieved~!  But, at the same time, am ready to strangle DH~!  Why can he not learn to close gates~!  Or for that matter doors (he leaves our front door and screen wide open).

Thanks for letting me vent  ;D  If I even talked to him right now, I'd be YELLING~!

General Board for Big Dogs with Big Paws / Woody Update
« on: September 30, 2007, 05:56:05 pm »
Woody's feeling better~!  I don't know if it's the pain pills the Vet's have me giving him, or if it's the extra wet food he's getting (just kidding).  Anyway, he still has problems getting to a sitting or staning position from laying down, and vice a versa, but, it's much better than a week ago.  The Vet's called me Saturday afternoon with the latest test results, and, they found NOTHING~!  Argh~!  $600 worth of tests to tell me they have no idea what is wrong.  They say if he gets worse again after the pain pills are gone they'll run more tests, otherwise, just keep an eye on him.  I sure hope it doesn't come back~!

General Board for Big Dogs with Big Paws / Woody's Sick!
« on: September 23, 2007, 01:58:47 am »
I was out of town this weekend with my kids (going to the Northern California Renaissance Faire) and my DH called me last night to tell me Woody was acting weird.  He thought maybe I hadn't given him his Phenylbarbitol before I left, 'cause Woody seemed to have balance problems.  Now, this afternoon when the kids and I got home, Woody isn't moving at all unless I make him, and then, he is very wobbly.  Also, he hasn't eaten since yesterday morning.  I tried to give him his medicine in a piece of cheese, and he wouldn't even eat it.  Normally, he wolfs it right down.  I'm going to take him to the Vet first thing in the morning, but, I'm so worried right now.  I looked up the symptoms for West Nile virus, and they seem to fit with what he has.  I sure hope the Vet's can figure it all out quickly~!   :(

Pit Bull Discussions & Pictures / Prayers for My Brothers Dog
« on: July 17, 2007, 04:27:00 am »
This fire is going on in San Martin, California right now.  It went across the back of my brothers property, and damaged his barn and the dog's run.  Yoyo (PB) hid under the large Truck Container my bro has, and watching the live video looks like it will be OK, but, obviously is going to be tramatized.  In addition to Yoyo, my bro has multiple ducks, geese, and a s**tload of cats both indoor and outdoor.

Can you keep them and all their animals in your prayers for us?

Mixed Breed Pictures / Hunting Fishies
« on: July 08, 2007, 08:59:42 am »
Poor Woody spent about 4 hours hunting fishies in our pool today.  We bought some new "Little Squiggles" pool toys that "swim" around, and Woody saw them.  Maple had to join in, though she couldn't figure out what was keeping his attention LOL
