Just saw this and thought I would pass it along...

Puppy:Great Pyrenees
Sprakers, NY 518-234-7777
Leslie- captcrooks@hotmail.com
Name: Fred
Age:6 months
Sex:M
Size:XL
Fred came to our farm with his brother Barney to protect our over 150 goats. Barney is content living with the goats but Fred is not. He kept escaping to come and play with our young child and other farm dog. He is not cut out to be a goat protection dog but he is cut out to be a great pet! He is now living in the house and doing great. House training is going great with no accidents so far. He is also working on leash manners and is doing well. He is cautious at times and I have to pull him! (For example he stops walking as we get near the road and will not go any farther) He does however seem to get over his apprehensions after he experiences something once or twice. He is happy and playful and good with other dogs. We have a few cats around and he is ok with them too. We would be thrilled to see him find a loving home. We did trade some expensive goats for him and his brother so will ask for $100.00. He is mostly white with a subtle balack mask around the eyes.

Hi, I'm Jenn, welcome to the board!  Sorry I'm late on the welcome.  We've got five furries in our family - Frederick and Charlotte are both 2 yr old all-white Pyrs (we've had Fred since he was 8 weeks, but Char only since May), Simon is a black and white cat, and Shorttail and Longtail are all black kittens.  Here's a few pictures.   ;D :D

Charlotte in particular follows me wherever I go  ;) - she is definitely attached.  But I'll often find Fred in the bathrooms on the tile.  Definitely loves it.

haha!  the marble is from home depot and the rug is from restoration hardware.  they seem to love the rug even more than the cold floor!

That's Fred on the left and Charlotte on the right.  Char is new to us, we adopted her as a rescue in May, and she has slowly and steadily relaxed and become part of the family.  Freddie is in heaven!!!   ;)

They haven't had baths in 3 months!  I've been waiting until the rainy weather stops to schedule them at PetSmart, haha!  But thanks for thinking they are clean and white!!   :D

Great Pyrenees Discussions / Re: Took in stray. Need advice
« on: July 27, 2006, 03:47:13 am »
My only advice is beeee patient!  We adopted a 2 yr old rescue pyr about two months ago now and she is still terrified of strangers (she will just freeze and piddle, and once with a man with a beard, pooped right there standing still, poor thing) and still prefers to be up on the bed to anywhere else.  Luckily she doesn't have any aggressive fear responses, and the vet should be able to assess that for you.  It has only been in the last few weeks that our girl will eat in the kitchen rather than up in her safety spot on the bed, and she finally stays with us in the kitchen/downstairs even if her access to bolt upstairs isn't closed off.  I would definitely agree that Pyrs are catlike - somewhat aloof, but fiercely loyal - based on the Pyr I've had since he was 8 weeks old who is now 2, but now with the rescue Pyr things are different - she is incredibly cuddly/has to be touching us/smells us up and down when we get back from anywhere, so who knows what past experiences can do to personality.  I wish you the best of luck with your new family member!!

Thanks everybody!   ;D  She also finally realized she can sleep on the floor right NEXT to the bed and feel just as safe.  She just started getting down herself a couple nights ago.  Phew!

Charlotte has really warmed up...  here she is with Freddie!  Also in case you were wondering -- she eats like a champ now.   :D  We switched to Performatrin Ultra -- huuuuge hit with both dogs AND the cats.
