That is what Sierra does, she pulls on them like she is trying to take them out. Good! I was hoping that she was just a weird little dog and not begging for some help. Thanks

My mastiff has been chewing her nails for some time now and I was never really worried until the last week or so she has been doing it a lot, almost constantly when she is laying down. We trim her nails but now they are getting cracked and split because she is chewing so much. Family members have mentioned that feet chewing means that they have allergies but she isn't chewing her feet but her nails. Should we be concerned or is is something that puppies/dogs do?

General Board for Big Dogs with Big Paws / Re: Digging!!!!!!

So I filled the hole and had Sierra with me to tell the hole how bad it was, she looked like she was upset. But we have not caught her in the act so the hole was very bad. Sierra I know was feeling guilty so when I was done repremanding the hole I was watering the other plants and had my  back towards her so she thought I was not watching. Sierra walked over to her toy basket and grabbed a bone and trotted over to the hole and dropped it on it. Like she was apologizing to the hole for getting it in trouble. I laughed so hard I had to go pee. Such a ham. The bone has remained in the same spot for two days now. I don't think the hole likes bones particularly.l ol :D

I am sorry that  I over reacted it was just that I am defensive I guess. I know that people are not trying to be mean, I guess I just took it that way.  It wasn't directed at you babs. Again my apologies

I am not an idiot and was a little taken aback by the tone. I understand that dogs dig, I have had dogs but I was wondering if any one had an pointers.

I don't think so because it is about 85 around here and it has been 105 or higher this summer. She eats the dirt or something because it is all over her mouth and neck and then on her front legs. The chicken wire, do you put it under the dirt or over?

Okay my 9 month old mastiff has suddenly dug a hole about a foot deep in the backyard grass area. She never digs in our yard. I don't know what to do but I was so upset when I came home that I had to just walk out of the backyard and walk around the block. I don't want to hit her or put the dirt in her mouth like people have told me recently. What else can I do?

I have been told several different types of food to give my 7 month old puppy by her vet and by the trainer. The vet of course says Eukanuba (sp?)  but another vet said that that creates too much poop so give her science diet, which I have never heard good thinks about. Her trainer suggests several brands but she seems to enjoy Royal Canin and Choice Selection. I was just wondering what you all thought. She is rather shy but is coming out of it. Our trainer suggests certain foods that wont mess up her emotions too much because she is shy around big people. Thanks  :)

I am thinking of breeding her in about a year and a half maybe two. She is way too young now. I too went to great lengths to get my little Sierra. We live in Chico, California and she is from Arkansas, but she is worth it. She gets her xrays when she is one year to make the requirements. We are not breeding for any selfish reasons that is for sure. Sierra is such a great manored, smart and trained loving dog that I think that others would be so lucky to have a dog like her. Not that I am biased because I am her mom.  :)  I am looking early so that I can find the right male with the right temperment. Plus I think that she is a bit picky so who knows what might actually happen. I appreciate your concerns and the input. Thanks

I have a 7 month old AKC english mastiff and was looking for any information on studs and all of that jazz that some one could give me. It is my first time with a puppy mastiff, but have had 3 from the rescue society which are all fixed. We are looking to have a litter of puppies with this beautiful gal. Again any information would be great to have!!
