The charge to remove a bone shard from a toe is ASTRONOMICAL  Get another quote from another vet- this is a toe not a hip replacement and should be a relatively minor procedure

A Pyr pet owner once told me that the Pyr is America's best kept secret- truly a wonderful breed to live with.  Especially with people being so busy- no having to play frisbee twice a day or 2 mile walks just to burn off some energy they are quite content to just quietly lay in the same room you are in- even as puppies.  Many people think they need a lot of land and exercise- NOPE they are however quite good at snoozing

Newfoundland Discussions / Re: My Ebony Is Losing Her Backside-SO Sad

It is so hard to see our companion's health fail.  There are things you can do to help her out that don't cost much- she should lose weight to help her pain  and be kept in a much thinner weight so that her rear don't have to work so hard.  You also could give her a buffered aspirin for pain and she should be on glucosamine daily a minimum of 1500-2000 mg- you can get this relatively inexpensive at Walmart.  You don't say how old she is but quality of her life is also important - if elderly you might want to thinking about helping her across the rainbow bridge

I believe that is a special gift- it is a grooming move that they give only to their most treasured companions.  Mine will do it on my arm

Food Discussion & Information / Re: pumpkin for loose stools?

I used to feed it every day because they loved it so much- its a good supplement anyways-just loaded with vitamins  Or you can just feed it for a few days whenever they need it for their stools- Also works good if their stools are too hard

I would give him a couple of heaping tablespoons  He may or may not like the taste at first - mine take it directly from the spoon- everyone lines up for pumpkin!
