Great Pyrenees Discussions / Lyme Disease and arthritis
« on: August 10, 2014, 02:13:40 pm »
Haven't been here for a very long time. Lollie is now 8 and half years old. At the end of June she was diagnosed with lyme disease. She has finished her month long antibiotics. But she does not seem to be better. I have had her back to vet last week. He said, it is arthritis made worse by the LD. At the moment she is getting a dose of metacam every night, but even that does not seem to give her a lot relieve.

I just can't get my head around the fact that in a weeks time she went from doing zoomies in house to not going faster than a walk, very careful getting in the car, and can just barely get on the bed.

Anyone have any experience to share, or suggestions of other things. The vet wants her on a mobility diet and some supplements.

Does she need another round of antibiotics? or is it really all from lyme disease?

All thoughts and shares will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Haven't been here for a very long time. So what happened to Bear? Did you get him or did you let him go to rescue?

Hi,

This is how I keep track of how close spring is.

You just have to know there are flowers and small insects out when they arrive. They arrived in the Gulf a few days earlier than usual. Its fun to watch the progress north of the the ruby throated hummingbird.

Bills & Other Legislative Acts / Good for Georgia

Just found this as I was looking for Treeing Walker hounds.

The article is a little sad, but the part about Georgia making it a felony for abuse etc., is really a good thing.

You have been in my thoughts off and all day. It hurts so much to your friend. My heart goes out to you.

This man too lost his Great Pyrenees to the same type of cancer. Maybe it will be a comfort to know that someone is fighting the dreadful thing.

I think Paige lives in Texas and you might too. So maybe you will see him as he takes his long walk for Malcom.

I am really sorry about Woof.

Hi, I live north of Rome. Does Kodiak do well off leash? In spring we could go to our other farm and turn them loose. Lollie loves to run and play. The lane way is about a mile long and has many fields on both sides. I go there sometimes.

Lollie is a Great Pyrenees and so far she likes all dogs.

If you have Vista it should be there. If you have the home premium. I am not sure about XP, can't remember what Komando says about it, but you can go to Microsoft and download it. I am pretty sure it is free. I skipped over XP, so can't tell you.

Great Pyrenees Discussions / Re: Calling all the Girly Pyr Mommas!!

Hi, Just had to respond to your post. Lollie gained a lot until she was about 10 months old. After that she just got taller. I worry that she is thin, but the groomers tell me she is not. She has always had free choice, but doesn't really heat a lot, but she eats all the time(see picture). She even celebrates New Years.

We went to visit the breeder in Oct. Lollie is taller than her mom, but not as solid yet. Her father who lives further up north weighted 130 and her mom weighs about 85-90. Lollie  be two in a few days.

You posted some pictures of Naja in the meadow a while ago. Wow  those pictures could almost have been in my camera. I didn't have time to post then. Lollie loves to run. We get out a lot in the summer. I cheat. I ride the four wheeler.

Sorry to hear you lost the puppies. I just found this story yesterday and it was such an incredible story. Everything happens for a reason, but that isn't much consolation when you have worked so hard. Wishing you warm thoughts and hugs. Thank goodness there are people like you.

Stumbled on this site and thought of your pictures. Sometimes the blurry ones are done on purpose. And I love this time of year here too.
