There's always those people... it's annoying as sin!
People at the vets always Ooo and Aaahhh at Madison because she's a greyhound and blah-di-blah-di-blah.... (the blahs are answering questions and assuring them that they are not 'high strung' and such) but when we take Madison to run with her buddies, we put a muzzle on her (and the other people we go with muzzle their greys too, pack mentality stuff...) and people AUTOMATICALLY assume that because of the muzzle, she's going to attack their dog or something.

First off... your dog is more likely to hurt my dog... because your's isn't muzzled and he'll rip a chunk out of my helpless pooch... so chill.

THAT and when people like... AVOID Madison because they think she's going to attack them because she's a greyhound. (And apparently general consensus is that they are mean... )

Whatever, we don't have to live with them every day in our houses, and they are one of few that actually freak out and get rude...  when this happens, I usually just start calling Madison "Killer"... as in, "Oh, okay... c'mon Killer, let's go look at doggie food." (Priceless.)

For a long time Madison didn't know she was a greyhound, so she was afraid of other greyhounds... she probably thought she was a cocker spaniel because we had one up until last year (when my poor Cinda died at 14.  )  Funny that they gravitate to dogs that they look like and look like dogs they know. It's cute really... lol.

Madison is so spoiled (as you can see by the pic), she's sleeping on the bed, on my pillow, with MY blanket... stinker.
And precious little Moonshine is innocently sleeping on the floor like a good boy.

I can't believe you haven't cracked yet and adopted him already!  He seems great (still, I know I said that before!) and sounds like he loves you so much! 
How does Lucy react to him? (Madison could care less for the first week we had Moonshine (we started forstering him about the same time you did Lite.)  Madison really enjoys the company now, but still tells him who's boss every once in awhile.

You just wait, Lucy may have a brother after all! 

Right then... so I've posted on the board several times but I never took the time to do this (partially due to lack of time), which, it seems is a general trend. (We just wanna go have fun!)  Maybe I'll start a fad?

I'm a senior in high school, so time is money... or actually... grades... but none the less, I try to visit the boards as often as I can... and now on to more important things that you might actually care about!  The dogs. 

My family (okay... My mom and I... my dad and brother could care less) have two greyhounds.  Both are retired racers, except for the fact that one of them only raced. (Haha, slacker!)  Their names are Madison and Moonshine, Madison is 4 years old and we've had her since she was a puppy, and Moonshine is 2 and finally getting to act like a puppy. 

Moonshine joined the family only a couple of days ago when I told my mom that we couldn't get rid of him (we were fostering) and that I would pay for him myself as a sort of "senior gift" from ME to ME.  (Moonshine is my avatar, and Madison... is spoiled, and hasn't had her turn as my avatar yet.)

But yeah, thought I'd take a couple minutes out of the day to do this real fast.  Enjoy?

Arg, it's so hard! 

My mom finally caved... took her about two weeks (maybe one and a half), but she caved.  He's the greatest boy ever. (and so girly at that!)

Moonshine is NOT a kisser, but he is a MAJOR leaner, and by major, I mean you could move away quickly and he would fall over.  He is also a sniggler, especially when he just wants to lounge around outside, he'll lay on the ground and sniff around (sometimes rubbing his eyes, kicking at you or whining) until you sit down (not necessarily near him) and he'll cockroach over to you and on you.  SO silly, and he knows it too!  (Finally got him to cockroach on command yesterday, it was hilarious.)

Renee, fostering is so hard! I'll never be able to do it again because I'll have to beg my mom to keep every one.  As it is, I'm buying Moonshine (with my own money) as a Senior gift to myself... telling THAT  to my dad may be easier said than done.  I'm sure if Moonshine wasn't such a match for Madison it would have been easier to get him ready to go to his 'forever home,' but he's just perfect and Madison loves him.  (He's her "boyfriend," we'll say "Madison, where's your boyfriend?" and she'll perk up her ears and go find him.)

OH, and the whole barking thing... I know I should have got onto him when he did it the first time, but I was surprised/excited.  Now?  He whimper-barks when he wants me to come outside with him.  It's cute to see that he loves me so much, but not when he does it at 11 at night. 

Went to the CGA picnic and such, we didn't win anything this year (last year we got 2nd or 3rd in the costume contest) but that's cool, Mads and Moo had a great time, they even got to run with some of Madison's friends! (separately because we were a muzzle short...)

No no, not the illegal beverage, (although he is intoxicatingly sweet!), the GREYHOUND!
He's our foster at the moment (people keep calling everyday!) but probably not for long. He's a greyt boy (yes, I had to be cheesy and do the "greyt"), light brindle, AMAZING lines (his body is so beautiful), and big goofy feet.

The best thing about him?: he's pigeon-toed!  it's adorable... and he's so clumsy. (which isn't so adorable sometimes.)

Got him... two Wednesdays ago, and he has really emerged from his little shell.  He was so frightened of everything and everyone and is now wagging his tail and nipping at your fingers to play.  He seems quite dependent on Madison, as in, doesn't want to be apart from her EVER... looks to her when they're outside to see where he can go potty and everything.  He's still a little jumpy at times, sudden loud noises and movements frighten him and he gets all sheepish (no little kids for him... not that he would be aggressive, just scared all the time.).

AND, he barked today... for the very first time (here at least)... it was adorable. I can see that Madison IS a bad influence.

(And yes, the furniture and crate rules are so hard, he wants to be on the bed so badly!)

Like everyone else, I agree that they should be treated fairly.
Madison was only allowed on the couch when there is a blanket on it, and to all of our human minds, that made sense, but dogs don't understand the "sometimes" part of it, it's either all or nothing.  So in your puppy's mind, she should be able to get on the couch/bed as well but by getting scolded if she tries just confuses the poor baby.
You need to even the playing field, either by letting the OEM and Bichon both on the couch/bed, or by not letting either of them up there.
