my old lab caught a possom once. lab got cut up pretty bad. she never messed with one again. did chase a bear once but thank god she never caught up to it. she was real bad about chasing wild animals while out on the trail. she got me a hunting ticket from a park ranger because she was chasing a deer while grouse hunting. ranger told me to get a shock caller for her but i just dont belevie in that. stupid ranger cost me 500 bucks and revoked my linces for a year. he knew darn well i wasint running deer he just wanted to write a ticket.

Rottweiler Discussions / run or not to run?
« on: August 04, 2007, 12:45:46 am »
the time has come once again to whip my fat but back in shape. here lies the problem. I HATE RUNNING unless i have somone to run with. wife said no, loki is my next option. my old lab would run circles around me back in the day but i herd that its not healthy to run large breed dogs till there full grown. the roumor is that it causes problem with there joints, HD, arthritous, ect. loki loves to run and i think it would be great for the both of us. we both getting fat ;D. can anyone squash this roumor or is it true. the vet told me last week loki has another 50 plus pounds to grow! also my lab hated running on pavement. i think it hurt her pads but loki dosent seem to care. would it hurt him to run on pavement?

honestly i hardley ever talk to my neigbors because of the laungage barrier but they seem like good people and this morning i decided to let loki play by himself out side. i watched him from a window as he sat by the gate and waited till someone from the mans house came outside. he barked and barked and barked till they came over to say hello. first time he has ever barked for attention. puzzled me really. they came over gave him a pat on the head and some table scraps >:( (need to ask them not to do that. maybe ill give them a box of treats to for him) after that he was happy and playfull again.  they also thanked me for the food i broght them and invited us to the funural but i had to decline but they broght over a HUGE plate of pasta for dinner. couldnt eat it all. there good people and im glad i got get to know them better. wish it was under diffrent terms but thats how life goes.

loki dosent bark at me unless i bark at him first. he dosent bark unless somone he dosent know comes to the gate but as soon as it opens he wants to be-friend them. i dont know it thats good or bad. he did run off the one of those people that put the stupid flyers in your mail box. i was pretty happy about that.

Rottweiler Discussions / loki's friend
« on: August 02, 2007, 11:28:57 am »
I live right behind an old itialian couple who love loki, the old man expecially. loki always gets excited when he sees the old man who is probley in he mid 70s. the old man dosent speak a bit of english but his son told me one day that his father loves loki and often pets him and gives him a "treat" which probley means some kind of raw meat. well last night around ten o'clock i was woken by loki's constant crying at the bedroom door. as always i throw the closist soft object at him which usally ends up being a pillow and tell him to be quiet. he didnt stop crying and actully jumped in the bed with my wife and i which he had never done before. my first thought was either the house was on fire or someone broke in. i sent to dog out of the bedroom searching for the intruder and noticed the flasing blue strob light out front. loki ran straight for the the front door so i put some shorts on and took him outside on his leash. well turns out that loki's new friend suffered a heart attack and didnt make it. they wheeled him out on a strecher and even though you couldnt see his face loki knew who it was. loki cried till they left and the family was outside crying. the son came over to tell us what happened and loki stood dead quite while he was talking. when the son leaned down to pet loki, loki bowed his head in respect. the son assured me that somone would keep loki company during the day since his father wouldnt be able to anymore. this morning i made some cinammon rolls and took them to our new friends and in exchange they gave loki the BIGGIST ham bone i have ever seen. its so big that i cant even boil it. i dont have a pot big enough. death is always a sad event and i never thought a dog could grieve like humans but all loki has done this morning is lay at the end of the couch and whimper. i feel sorry for him. he lost his daytime pal. i know what he is feeling and it will take time but im sure he will be alright.

well i try not to spoil loki to much because my father never really spoiled me much. i always got what i wanted but never really asked for to much. honestly i cant wait till he is healed up so i can go back to work and get away from loki and back to the same old daily operations. loki enjoys the attention but he is pushing his limits. he isint allowed in the kitchen or the office but since he has been inside for over a week he wants to explore the house more. loki is outside from the time i wake up in the morning till the moment i get home from work. the yard is his home not the house so he is all confused. next week will be better. as for the cat........the two are best friends. the dog has never tried to bite the cat but ofter does the big dog stomp when there playing. the cat isint allowed outside so he pretty much runs the house. i give him credit though, even though the cat is nutured he has the biggist balls in the world. we brought the cat home when loki was four months and the cat walked right over to loki jumped on his head, latched himself onto an ear and held on for dear life. the cat is a flame point ragdoll and they get upwards of 30 plus pounds, not to mention the breeder we got him from has two great danes. so the cat was pretty much use to big dogs. he attacks loki's tail becasue loki wags it so hard that it will send the cat sliding across the room. i wish i could post a vido of the two. there too funny.

after reading everyone's responses i really felt bad about what i did. i now relize that their might have been a reason why this guy is afraid of dogs. i just wanted to let everyone know that i apologized to this guy and offered to help him confront his fear face to face and yesterday he came over to the house and i let him handle loki for a couple of hours. they both did great. loki was very well behaved and even lisitined to his every command. this guy is still scared of aggresive dogs but now knows that bad dogs are because of bad owners. before he left he sat down beside loki and gave him a big hug and loki even showed he love back with a big slobery kiss to the face. but most of all i wanted to apologize to anyone that has gottin the wrong impression by my actions. in the military pratical jokes are an everyday thing but i now understand that i took this one a little to far and never should have put this guy or loki into that position and to all im sorry. please forgive me?

zeus is a great looking pup. he looks just like loki. i cant tell from the pics but does zeus have shaggy hair or the classic short hair. loki has shaggy hair on the ridge of his back, his rump and his tail. it puzzles me because his blood line dosent suggest in breeding or mix breeding. i know that the breed has developed some more female charteristis in males over the last decade and i still cant understand why loki has shaggy hair.

ever work with somone that is so dumb that mearly hearing their voice makes you want to punch your grandmother? well i work with this guy that gives me such a feeling. this guy is the lazist person in the world and can not be trusted to do anything by himself. his supervisor has to fallow him around all day and make sure he does his oun work. he is so lazy that he didnt even turn in his re-enlistment paperwork on time and is now in the process of getting out of the military. his wife even left him because he didnt re-enlist. now he will have no job and no education so there for he cant feed his kids. since im in the military i dont have to many chances to bring loki to work with me but this past friday i did. we were throwning a picknick for the rest of our flight, and family is always welcome at these events. well my wife an i dont have kids so of course we jumped at the chance to show of our well mannared and beautiful rott. i love picking on this guy at work. somtimes i feel bad for doing it but then i relize he brings it upon him self. another co-worker of mine remembered that this guy is deathly scared of big dogs and i couldnt help myself when he told me this. loki is the most loveable dog in the world he never barks and has never showed any aggression twords anyone other than the phone repair man (which by the way tried to kick him) so i felt really confident about my dog preforming this little joke. we set it up perfectly my friend mentioned to the idiot that loki was an ex-german police dog. (witch of course isint true and anyone with common sence could see that loki is still a puppy) the idiot guy started getting really nervous around loki which of course loki picked up on and got ihm kinda excited. finnaly the table was set to make this guy pee himself in fear. i got him cornered and asked him what he thought of loki. he replied with a stutter when he asked me to "ta, ta, take that dog away." of course i didnt and started making loki do tricks like sit, lay down, speak and a few other commands. the idiot was so strickin by fear after seeing loki's bright white teath and hearing his loud and proud bark that he was about to cry so a told him "you know loki here used to ba a police dog and he was retired because he mauled he last owner" once again the idiot asked me to go away and once again i didnt. i asked him to watch loki while i used the bathroom and handed him the leash and while walking away i gave loki the command to "get em loki get em" whitch in loki laungage means lick him to death. as soon as the words left my mouth loki was all over him licking his face and neck. this idiot started crying like a little girl and curled up like a ball. i called loki back to me and walked off laughing. i kinda felt bad about playing such a mean and humilating joke on someone but all i could do was laugh. i wish i could play this same trick on everyone that tries to cross the street when they see me and loki coming or all the people that have sprayed us with pepper spry just because loki sniffed their leg, or the a$$ hole cop that gave me a 200 euro fine for not having a muzzle on loki when im not required by law to have one. i am fed up with europe and the scared little pansies that live here. no wonder america was formed.

my wife is in the military too so it was pretty embarssing for the both of us but we just had to laugh and buy a new clock. we have been through about six alarm clock sence we brought loki home almost seven months ago. if its not him chewing on it, it's him knocking it of the table with his tail. i swear rotts can distroy anything they want. i opened my door this morning to let loki in after his morning meal and all i could see in my yard was trash. dumb me left the trash in the yard because pick up isint till monday and loki decided to turn my yard into a landfill. i came home from work oneday and he had a car tire in his mouth. where he got it from i have no idea but he had gnawed it up pretty good. ( i live in europe and cars are extremly smaller) i cant wait for him to stop cutting teeth so he dosent have to chew on everything.

my biggist concern with my rott was his jumping. i never thought of it as a problem because im bigger than him but he did try to jump on a friend of mines four year old daughter. he didnt hurt her but she cried and he whined like a little girl because he thought he did hurt her. he is so smart because now he dosent jump and is extremly calm with children. he dosent even wag his tail around them because he thinks it might hurt them.

i went through the same withdraws when i left for basic training and left my 4 year old yellow lab at home with my parents. i got her when i was 14 and she was my best friend. we took her every where. she even slept in the bed with me. but when i left it shook the both of us up pretty good. my parents told me that she didnt eat for a week. but her picture in my locker kept my spirits high during basic training. cookie is now 8 years old and i have my own dog now but every time i go home to visit my family cookie is the first to greet me and she goes straight to my old room and jumps in the bed with me every night. it kinda makes my wife jeloues but i have to remind her that cokkie was my first love but my wife will be my last. the only advice i can give you is to keep your head high, work hard to get out of the rut your in and one day another special pet will come into your life.
