We all like Miller too.....I think it has more to do with respect for my brothers wishes that keeps me from changing it. He called him that because in his words "hes so much of a baby I had to call him something mean".
He really is a wimp at most things, never offers to snap or bite etc. Hes just a sweet dog.....not anything like I imagined a pitbull to be. I know I know but you hear horror stories of them snapping or going into rage etc....so far none of that.

Gave him a bath last night and he stood rock solid, he LOVED it :)

Kids said Miller but that sort of faded away. Its hard to change his name with my brothers death so close still. Perhaps once things have settled more.....its just plain hard right now and he has gone through so much in such a short time yet he is still learning from us. He now heals on a leash and listens so well to us.

I still stand by the saying that a dog is a reflection of the owners dedication to them.
I grew up with dogs all around me. My mother raised Dobermans and Poodles and Poodle crosses. All of these dogs were raised and socialized and great dogs. After all of those years growing up I have never been bitten by a dog. That says something.
I currently am trying to find a home for my deceased brothers pitbull. Now let me set the record straight this dog is a big baby! He loves my kids, gets along with my cats better than my Border Collie and seems to like the other dogs just fine. I cannot turn him out with them yet because he is not neutered. D day is Feb 6th, after he heals he will be trialed with them. He is fine in the crate next to them (its a wire crate, they can lick and see eachother and hes fine.)

A dog is the time you dedicate to it. If you get a dog and lock it up and never socialize it (like a child) yes a nice person can have an angry dog. If you take a dog and spend lots of time loving it and training it you will have a good dog.....

I agree, so far all I have gotten are spam mails nothing serious. I am doing word of mouth but its difficult to do when I am not home to get phone calls being so busy right now :(

Any ideas to change his name??? My brother named him Killer because he is such a baby. I want to keep it close to Killer but I am not having much luck.

You know what is amazing, I posted him on Petfinder.com and I am getting hundreds of emails. The kinds we want to adopt your "pet", we golly me I should ship my "pet" out right away oh and get that cashiers check to me pronto. Emails from the UK stating they would like to know my adoption price and when they can get my "Pet"

OK first clue if they dont know what the heck they are adopting then they are an idiot!

Do people really fall for these things??? UGH!

Thank you for all the suggestions and the positive feedback Deb.

I am not having much luck so far but havent posted him on the rescues yet. His D day is Feb 6th so hopefully after that we can start posting him on more sites.

I am worried about finding the loving caring home that will baby him the way my brother wanted him to be. Lets just say my brother registered another vehicle because his commuter didnt have air conditioning for his DOG!

They will not allow me to post him until his neuter is complete (completely understand). I will NOT put him in a shelter. OF all things he needs is to be stuck in a cage with a cement outdoor after all he has been through.

He will live with me until I can find a place for him.

Thank you for the condolences, its been the hardest thing I have ever dealt with. I am trying to stay focused and get things settled for his dogs sake and mine.

Need advice on how to safely place my brothers pitbull.

My brothers body was found 01/10/2008, he had been in a snowmobile accident in front of his home and stumbled into his garage and collapsed. He was 41. His pitbull was upstairs in his crate. The neighbors found my brother three days later :( I have his dog. He is the sweetest thing! He is not neutered so I am having that done. He was very thin from being in his crate with no food or water but he is eating now and gaining weight.
He is good with my kids, he seems fine with other dogs (non agressive). He touched noses with my cat and the cat ran away and he didnt react. He can sit, speak, lay down, is learning to heal. He is crate trained so doesnt have accidents.
He is a beautiful dark brindle.....
I ahve two dogs, one of which is a 4 mo old femal Border Collie which is why I cant give him run of the house with my two dogs yet.
Where can I post or get the word out? I dont want fighters or weirdos getting my brothers dog. He was everything to him.
Hes only 1 year old :(

I am dealing with this as well with our BC Lucy. What we are doing that seems to work is telling her "OFF" stearnly and ignoring her. If we make eye contact and pat her it just gets worse. Once she quietly sits we go to her and say hello and good girl. Its very hard though because shes so darn cute and looks like shes smiling when shes doing it :)

Awww My parents used to raise dobermans when I was young, I loved them. So many people are afraid of them when they are so loving. I remember how smooth their coats are and how gentle and protective they were of me......
I remember the taping and retaping of the ears and the tails that were done when they were born.....
Such great dogs!
Very nice pic!
