Hello everyone,

This year I took a team of 22 malamutes to Alaska's arctic for a 3 month expedition. The dogs did great.  They stayed healthy and strong. Thought we'd add some new photos of some of our mals.  First is Bucko running next to the sled on his first expedition.  Then there's Hooch, looking relaxed after a long day of pulling.  And finally, a photo of Joe and Johnny.  Johnny's a bit of a rebel....rebel without a cause!  But deep down he's just a big baby like all mals!  ;)

Here's a few photos of some of the dogs in the team.  One is a line-up of wheel dogs (the really tough guys and gals) and the other is of three siblings, Sally, Nikko, and Farmer.  They're sitting so patiently waiting to go!

Hey!  Up in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge the trips run 12, 15, or 21 days.  We also run trips out of Fairbanks and those are very flexable...day trips, overnight, or multi-day.  You can customize the number of days.  We do the Fairbanks trips from when the snow flies (early Nov) until the end of January.  Then we go up north for the ANWR expeditions from February until mid-May.

That's for sure!  We're lucky the vegetation in our yard is wild and that Nikko didn't dig up a nice landscaping job or the flower bed.  Yeah, we were thinking we could put him to work putting in septic systems or something...ha haha!

I guess summertime can be pretty boring for a malamute freighter, so what better to do than start excavating a pond in the backyard? 

This is a photo of one of our sled dogs, Nikko and the hole he dug over the course of one week last summer.  Now that's a serious digger!  Sometimes winter can't come fast enough!  :)

Dog sledding has always been a secret dream of mine.  Do you compete in the Iditarod??

Hey!  Come on up...the snow's great and we've been running teams already for conditioning!  We don't do the Iditarod or any races, we strictly stick to the expedition/freighting side of mushing.  The racing dogs are really small and fast, but mals have no interest in running fast.  They just love to pull, pull, pull!  Sometimes our team of 22 will be freighting 3000 lbs or more!  They live for it!

We'd like to re-introduce ourselves.  Several years ago we were posting under the name "arcticjoe", but have been out of touch for quite a while now, so we thought we'd start fresh.  Here are some photos of our dog team here in Alaska.  We run a 22 dog team in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.  We love our mals!!!
